I like the version with the jacket too. All good.

I like it with the black! With your hair and footwear it seems intentional to me. And more comfortable for this party than going without.

I'm liking the jacket& cami combo, and also together with the gold the look seems really good for festive- office. Go for it.

I have zero issues with the black cami. The dressy is sparkly, so I don't think it makes it too casual.

I think that if you need to wear a camisole the neckline is too low for a work/profession situation. The black one doesn't look right with the color of the dress

Do you have a cami that comes a bit lower? That is a large expanse of black at the neckline? I think I would really prefer a nude or gold cami with this dress.

I do have a phobia with deep neckline for me, but for you I don't see a great issue for wearing a cami. It looks feminine and sexy without!:-) Then, you can also wear the black cami, too-but I have the same issues when comming to not exactly the right camis underneath a dressy neckline-afraid to mess up with it. It has to be a great and very fine finish on it's visible neckline underneath of the dress's. Then, for the optimal aesthetic under a black jacket I would preffer one slightly lower cut. You can achieve it by pulling the cami a bit down or, if it has adjustable straps, just let them a bit longer. A shiny(satin)or sequined top cami would be even dressier to peek out-depends on the dressiness factor you would like to achive.

Came back to say, I like the burgundy ruffled cami under it, too. Fab if wearing color coorinated shoes or clutch with it:-)

Thanks, all. I think I am going to wear the version with the black slip and the jacket. I don't love it without the jacket but I do like it a lot better with the jacket. It will prevent me from freezing too! (I am planning on wearing boots to get to the party in, then I will change shoes at J's office, which is across the street.)

Lyn, the slip is basically like a long tube, so I could definitely adjust it up or down a bit. I wasn't very careful about that when I tried it on. I have to admit that I like it a bit higher because this way it covers ALL of the cleavage. (And I am a C cup! I have such respect for the cleavage challenges large-breasted ladies must have!)

So re: nude or gold camis. I have never found a nude cami that is actually nude on me. They are all too light and/or cool toned. Although nude hose has come a long way in terms of ethnic skin colors, other "nude" items have not! Similarly, for gold, the color of the dress is a very difficult gold to match. It's kind of an old gold/slightly bronze tone with texture. Most gold items are too pale and shiny and look odd with it. That is why I am not using my gold clutch.

Anyway, so I think I am stuck with black or a color. Black lace or black with sparkly trim might be something to look into for the future.

Diana - I like this!! First I don't do chest exposure personally. I think the slip looks sharp and I like it with or without the jacket. You could also look for a gold, pale or even black lace edged cami. That would give you a very sirenesque (not that that's a word) 1940's old time glam look. Kind of like a lace cami under a business suit (a total fav or mine). Just a thought but I think you look lovely, elegant, sexy but modest!!

I like how it looks sans slip but understand the cleavage issues. That being said, the slip + jacket looks fab to me! Especially if it helps the clothes become a non-issue so you can enjoy the party
