Una and Rae's Luxury Rebel boots -- in brown

My Luxury Rebel Brady boots came in today too! I threw together a few outfits with them, from conservative(ish), to casual (flaps of boots unbuttoned but not pulled out), to RATE (holes in fishnets, deconstructed dress, flaps pulled out).

At first I thought they were a bit stiff and then I realized I didn't pull the cardboard out that was under the flaps, heh! They fit a bit differently in the toe box than my other boots, but not in an uncomfortable manner. The heel slips, but I'm used to that with my Frye boots. I don't think my feet are particularly wide, and they fit true to size for me in terms of length and width, with a thin sock.

What do you think?

P.S. The white shirt is a bit transparent -- usually I wear a cami under it but was too lazy here

Cathy, I find these boots a little overwhelming for your height and dainty ankles - and I don't know why that is because Una is shorter than you are. Perhaps it's the outfit combinations that they are paired with?

You have many, many pairs of Fryes that are much more flattering to my eye - I think because they are less chunky and don't have the top flap that "un-folds" - nor that really WIDE portion at the ankle.

Anyway, it sounds like you love these boots and I may have spoiled your fun - which makes me sad :(. But I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't say how I see it.

Laura -- I'm waiting for the purple version to show up and make a decision! The orange is very nice though.

Angie -- I like that you tell it as you see it! You know, when I was looking at the side views of the boot, it did occur to me that the wide ankles were a bit off-putting (probably why I don't wear a gray pair of boots with spats that I have). Will definitely be thinking on this. Thanks Angie!

Thanks Rae! At this point, I'm leaning toward returning -- already spent a bunch of $ at Anthro and I can wait for the perfect pair of RATE boots to make an appearance

I understand where you are coming from. And thank you for clarifying in your other thread that it's the combo of height, curves, and normally narrow ankles - this sounds a lot like me, so that gives Angie's ruling extra weight. I see from the comments that you have Fryes waiting in the wings, too - I think they'd also look great with any of these outfits.

(*Spats*. That's the word I was looking for all morning. *slaps forehead*. Thanks for putting me out of my tip of the tongue misery).

Cathy (and Rae), thanks for being a very gracious sport. You may have hit the nail on the head with why your grey spat boots are orphaned. I like the boots very much from the front. I am not convinced about the side view snapped, and the unsnapped side view is what I find most overwhelming. It's as if those boots are bossing you around - and YOU must be boss of your boots!

If you have time Cathy, you should try these outfits with your more streamlined rugged Fryes - like the blue ones you love so much (I recall those are your favourites). The comparison might help you see what I am seeing.

Angie -- I like your description of the boots bossing me around! Not to worry, I've moved on to the next boot. By making me think carefully about the boot, you've helped me avoid a spur-of-the-moment purchase. Instead, I realize I need something more in the style of a desert boot, and have ordered a few to see how they work out.

I see what you mean by trying the outfits on with my Fryes -- in fact, I've worn the dress in #5 with heeled lace-up Fryes, and my beloved blue ones often go with the leans in #3.
