approprio, thank you. You know, I think you are on to something there, that all ugly sweaters are star wars themed.

Tina, your sweaters sound beautiful and fun. I think you should wear them again if you still have them.

fashiontern, thanks for chiming in. Yes, I agree, it was meant to be that you post on reindeer themed sweaters, also star wars!

Sisi, I am sorry you don't have a Christmas sweater. I hope you get one soon. Please post a pic when you do.

lyn67, You made a couple of good points. Juvenile would be a better description than ugly. And yes, Norwegian/fair isle sweaters are a work of art. Thanks for posting.

Glory, what a good idea, and what fun to buy Christmas sweaters for all the family.

Joy and Runcarla, So glad you posted. Joy, I know your sweater is beautiful, enjoy it. I am a little upset that the others are missing. You sound like you might be a little too generous. I am that way myself. I don't feel too generous but I can be a pushover sometimes.

Runcarla, I hope you find the Shriner's fruitcake. Sorry, I have no idea where to find them. I don't bake fruitcakes. I used to make jam cakes, but no one in my family liked them except me.

Thought you might like to see this recent Australian adaptation of this idea

I don't know about the fruitcake as joke thing either. It is usual to have fruitcake at Christmas here, though I've never like them myself.

I think younger people are in horror of being corny and so when they want to wear these enjoyably silly sweaters they feel better calling them "ugly" before someone suspects they actually like them.

bridgie I decided I may as well keep them. Christmas reindeer can be part of my signature style... I'll just pack away two of them for sotrage after the holidays, and remember that I have them. I started a holiday capsule in my finds so I will remember next year.

The grey and white one I think I can get away with later in the winter. It will stay in my rotation for a bit.

Here in France the "ugly" Christmas sweater "trend" did not really exist a few years ago, but it's slowly coming. I find it rather funny and ever own one (that I actually find cute)!

As Glory said, some schools have a sweater day. Ours does. In fact, tomorrow is our annual Surprise the Students Seasonal Sweater Day. We all do or best to surprise and impress our little learners with our holiday fashion and flair. The kids LOVE it and our staff has a pretty good time, too.
I have 3 Seasonal sweaters to choose from :
Let It Snow ( a sweatshirt enhanced with the help of a google eye, Pom poms, a feather boa and a hot glue gun), Jingle All the Way (simple Santa dress with a jingle bell statement necklace, oh and jingle bell socks) and Sweets for Santa (25 years old and ready for retirement).

My son's fiancé won an ugly sweater contest with a Thrifted sweater that still smelled old. If I'd known I'd be reporting about it here Id've paid more attention to the details. My son wore a more subtle attractive one.

Mainelady, just one day? Those all deserve to be worn!

Yes, just one day. Perhaps I should consider outfit changes during recesses?

Bridgie, sorry I didn't see your comment sooner! Yes we do like similar things, I check out your finds fairly often! You live in a much warmer place than I do.....I've already worn the nutmeg coat several times and had to put it away when we moved on to temperatures too cold for it. Looking forward to seeing you wear it. I have some photos to post soon.

Years ago I used to make plum pudding (an English thing I believe) for Christmas dinner every year. It was full of dried fruit, flour/sugar, spices, and suet as a binding agent. It was like what we call fruit cake now but was totally delicious, especially when served with hard sauce which us butter with a bunch of sugar added. You can keep it around for a few weeks and keep pouring randy or whiskey or rum over it but it's not required. Everyone loved it. Similar idea to store bought fruitcake but better tasting, at least better than any store bought one I ever tasted.

Ok. The Christmas rashie is Hilarious!

anne, Vildy, Christina , Aurore, Mainelady Thank you.

anne, "the uglies " you sent are so cute. I want a kangaroo and a cockatoo sweater or rashie. Maybe, next year. rachylou seems intrigued with them, also.

Vildy, I think you are exactly right.

Christina, I agree that you can wear the grey and white a little longer. Nice that you have three Holiday and beyond sweaters.

Aurore, I didn't know if you French ladies wore the ugly sweater or not. I am glad you found a cute one. Enjoy it.

Mainelady, I bet that was a fun party today! Those are some cute outfits you have. That was a good idea to change during recesses!

Barbara Diane, Thanks. I chuckled at your comment. I would have liked seeing both the sweaters, but especially the thrifted one. I have a feeling you found it very amusing or interesting.

Fashiontern and Chris, thank you.

I can't say I own any ugly sweaters/jumpers and as it's summer here, no one is wearing one of any kind !

The ball gowns have swamped the “ugly” sweaters, but I thought you might get a little smile out of my wrapping paper, in the style of those Norwegian sweaters.

Cee, I feel very badly for you, that you can't wear a sweater because it is too hot. lol

Fashiontern, you are right. I love your wrapping paper.

Yeah, Bridgie... There's a couple of ensembles Kate McKinnon's character wears in Office Christmas Party I could definately rock !

Sorry, Bridgie, I have nothing exciting to report, as I have seen no ugly sweaters this year.

Just want to say that I am thinking of you. I remember that you had a difficult time some months ago, and also that you hoped to go somewhere in the end of December. So I wonder how your days are now. It's good to see that you are still active here and have kept your sense of humour. Wishing you all the best.

Ah, the Christmas Tabasco ties!
