Yup, the Famolares. How about the Dr. Scholl sandals with the wooden sole and Clark's Wallabies? For me, college seemed to be one shoe fad after another. My Earth shoes really stood out in Japan where all the other young women wore much more refined shoes that didn't make them look like waddling ducks.

Yes, Famolares! I never thought of those as ugly! I had this sort of tweak or something that if something was too popular, I wouldn't buy it. So I eventually got some navy sandals that were Famolares but not identifiable as such, and wore them for years, all the while wishing people knew they were Famolares! Ah, youth! I also had Dr. Scholls, loved them.

In high school when everyone else was wearing Candies, I was wearing MIA clogs. I have those same Keens, Adelfa. No Tevas at the moment, but my Chacos are pretty similar. It's a good thing I have a significant soft spot for ugly shoes as foot issues are making it difficult to wear much else these days. Gotta get me some Birks!
