OMG April! Wish you a super quick recovery!

Hair bands can be a great help and I think you are on a winner with a shirt dress as you just described!

As for the scar, I really like rose hip oil as it helps to reduce the redness of an old 7 stitches scar that I got as a child.

April, I hope you heal quickly. I wish I could recall how I managed to get dressed when my left clavicle was fractured the week before I started medical school. However, I vividly recall the agony of trying to use my parking card to enter the parking garage. My car had manual windows so I had to roll them down with my right hand and then find a way to insert the keycard into the card reader….also using my right arm/hand all completed without moving my left side. I caused a daily traffic jam. Once in the building, I couldn’t pretend someone else had caused the slowdown since the fracture was so obvious. (I also developed a quarter sized bald spot where my head hit the pavement…it was definitely my worst years for style).

Wish you a super quick recovery! How about SELF-PORTRAIT?

To me, it looks really elegant!

My word, SF, can't even imagine trying to drive. Taking a deep breath is quite challenging enough.

MM - a band would indeed be helpful. I have been doing my clumsy best by aiming a claw clip at my hair w/my right hand but your idea is much better.

April, wow you are being so brave with all of this. Sorry to hear you also got a cut on your face.

Regarding scar minimisation, I had a partial thyroidectomy last year which resulted in a surgical incision of about 2 inches across my neck. I used silicone strips (Elastoplast product) for the first 6 weeks (once the wound had healed and the scabs fallen off) and then for the following 4.5 months scar reduction gel (Dematix). I just kept it up until I could no longer see the scar.

I was lucky to have a skilled surgeon, but think the silicone treatment made a big difference to how quickly the scar disappeared.

Helpful ideas re scarring! Thank you all. I was fortunate in that I landed directly on the brow bone, so any scar will be largely hidden by either eyebrow or eyebrow makeup.

I was warned to observe strict sun-protection protocols for the next year but since I do that anyway, those directions will be easy to follow.

My true sympathy -lightweight ponchos to your rescue?

Oh, April, I just saw this!

I don't have any insight into the getting dressed, but I'm sending all my love and positive energy for a quick recovery!

April, I'm so sorry you are suffering with this. Yikes. I have no helpful clothing advice but I wish you a speedy recovery!
