Are twinsets still fashionable, or are they better left to Barbara Bush?

I was checking out some at Talbots. They have a rich wine color and a deep green, two colors that look really good on me and I don't see too often. I know they are two of this fall's colors, so they may not repeat next year. I was thinking in a plain twinset, they

I would pair them with Straight leg trousers until I can find pencil skirts work. Even then, not sure how long the skirts will stay in rotation when the snow starts.
