What a nice post!
This is the first group of girls/women I’ve ever been in extended contact with, so it’s interesting for me to see which of my expectations are and aren’t true, as well as to practice different ways of formulating statements. The things I have a tough time understanding irl are the same here—the indirect, veiled and passive/aggressivecomment, the refusal to explain oneself and crying wolf when asked to do so, the “popular” girls’ forced smiles…. Hard to deal with now as in high school, but now I’m more determined. The most surprising part is the assumption that I work that way too, leading to bizarre theories made up for how what I said could mean something entirely different from what I wrote. At first it was really difficult for me to even see how they got from A to Q, but I’m starting to recognize some of the patterns.
