Top to keep or not?

I ordered this top online, in two different sizes. I like it in theory, the colour and oversized style, and it's super comfy, but not sure if it works on me or if I'm being too over critical... would love to hear your HONEST thoughts as to whether I should keep it and if so, which size works best.

#1 is smaller size and #2 is bigger.

I like it; keep the smaller one. It looks good with the slim pants that you are wearing. My only question: is it long enough? If you are wearing it with leggings, maybe a longer layer underneath is needed.

My honest feedback: Don't. Too short, too wide, and you'll come to hate those large sleeves that are hard to manage under jackets.

I love it on you. Keep the first one, smaller size. The whole outfit is great, including the color. The esthetic is very Eileen Fisher / Elizabeth Suzann. Who made this one? I wear tops like this in different fabrics year round with both slim and wide leg pants and sheath dresses. Over longer silk tunic tops too, as Eileen Fisher often shows her box top styled. I can see you in any of those silhouettes.

The smaller of your sizes looks right.

It's a lovely texture and great colour although it is hard to tell in this photo if the colour truly flatters you (a question of the lighting, not you!)

How about styling it the way you would style it? How are you planning to wear it? If I have doubts about an item, it really helps me to put it through its paces and sometimes even photograph the options. It's a lot of work but helps me make a decision.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I would wear it with these grey jeggings or black skinnies, red boots or converse. I would wear a cami underneath as it's slightly short. But I'm still undecided! Not sure if it's really flattering on... I like it while I'm wearing it but not as much in the pic... hm, tricky! I can try with some more pics tomorrow in a better lightning, maybe that'll help!

Or maybe either of these will work better? I'm leaning towards that actually, as I'm not loving this one full on..! Any thoughts on which one you prefer?

Since you don't love it, wonder if it's flattering, and would have to wear a cami since it's too short, I'd say that this isn't the right top for you.

Well I like how the smaller one looks on you, but agree with the two posters above that you're not loving it. So you probably won't wear it enough.
The other 3 tops: tops 1 and 3 are nice but a bit meh. Our shops are so full of that sort of thing. I find the stripey one more interesting but again the sleeves might be tricky in a jacket.

Of the tops you have shown, I vote #1 of the 3 in a row. I don't think it looks meh at all. Rather, I find the print and the details interesting and pretty. And I think the shape, the arms and the colours of this one would make it a good choice for you. You can wear it with different styles of pants in black, blue, grey or white. Add a necklace and/or a bracelet, and you will look chic.

Thanks so much for your thoughts! I do like the prints in the tops, and I have another post where I posted some short sleeve tops, I think I might go with one of them actually, and return the one I started this post with!

I like the print and colour in this short sleeve, and I feel I can wear it all year around - as it is for spring and summer and with a cardi for winter and colder days!

I feel like I'm in a bit of a low with shopping recently, struggling to find items I like and buying some things too quickly (while shopping with a 1-year-old...) and realising later they weren't that good, so I'm trying to be more picky now and not just settle for something that I sort of like, just because I want something! Hence these posts

That's a beautiful t-shirt, Karin LH! It's really distracting to shop with a toddler as accessory! Posting here is helpful.

I love the last t-shirt that you posted. As for the first top, I know that anything that has to be worn with a cami, I don't wear. But that's just me. You seem pretty undecided about it which to me is reason not to keep it. I tend to think that you can do better.

The length of the larger size is better but the sleeves are just too much. Completely agree with Krishnidoux.

Thanks a lot everyone, great comments! It is very helpful to post here and really think through items, if it's not straight up love. I'll probably order the last short sleeve one and hope for that!

Karin, I love the colour of the first top on you, but agree with others that is rather short. The top you are considering looks promising, so I hope it works out for you.
My criteria for buying clothes: if you have any doubts, don't buy.
