Too much duplication?

I used to have a bad habit of buying multiple colors of the same style, still do sometimes. Most often in shoes
Anyways I’ve been eyeing these Boston clogs. I have the basic black smooth leather for quite a while. They’re getting pretty beat up. I want to take a break from sneakers (and yes Angie I’m still trying to find the perfect chunky loafer.
I know the color du jour is the tan suede.
But there’s these pink ones & the lilac shearling ones are on sale. I wear my current black ones a lot going to & from work, easy to slip on, I’m often running late.
The two colors are kinda similar. Thoughts?

My duplicates are not always best choices - often duplicated item feels somehow inferior to the original . Nevertheless - duplicating is practical and quite successful tool. The choice of colors is very individual - I go with inner preference of "happy color" or the one that "calls' me the most. Pink clogs looks like fun color - nice with black, dark denim, olive for fun. Go with inner feeling - what makes you happy .

If I would duplicate anything it would a Boston but that is because I have. Maybe not all Birkies but the style. I have tan, chocolate brown and black in suede. I have a medium brown in leather. I wear them out! Plus the easy on/ off cannot be beat.
Both of those are way cute. I shy away from shearing lined cuz in my mind it would limit my wear to cooler weather, but that is me. Both colors are fresh! I like the little detail of the white sole on the pink but that is arbitrary and I do not know how it would play with the rest of your wardrobe.
Both look fun!

Well, one is suede and one is shearling, no? Can you justify having a warm-weather and a cold-weather pair? It seems like they wouldn't compete with each other too much if you use them in different seasons...

They're both cute, but the lilac feels fresher to me. That could be a unique wardrobe highlight.

To me the colours make them quite different and they’re comfy shoes… I would find these a useful duplication. I got several pairs of Puma sport sandals and it wasn’t a waste. However, my multiple suede booties and block heel pumps are pretty useless I’ll admit. My test I think is being able to stand a whole day in a pair of shoes.

I have 2 pairs of Bostons and one is shearling! The shearling ones ended up being too warm for me to wear long periods so now they are winter house shoes (if it is cold enough outside for shearling, l am probably going to opt for a boot or something that covers my entire foot) Both pairs do get worn but the shearling pair less so. Both colors are pretty.

I have lilac Air force ones and now I might need lilac birks!
Since one is shearling, I agree they are different enough. I like the white sole

I think they’re different enough, and if you’re getting that much use out of the black ones, I think duplicating in a fun color that works well with your wardrobe is a safe bet, especially with the high comfort and practicality factor!

I think this duplication makes sense. Sometimes you feel like shearling, sometimes you don't, right?

I have no problem with sometimes duplicating shoes because I have fussy feet. I have a slight preference for the pink, because it's beautiful color with your skin, and I like the white sole.

I’m all for duplicating shoes (fussy feet). I do it A LOT, even for more impractical ones than Birks. These are different enough because of the shearling that I vote yes!

I imagine the shearling ones would be 6 months a year whereas the non shearling would be more 8 months a year (all but the coldest weather).

I am not a duplicator (rarely) so keep that in mind. I like both colours but they are similar. If one was a neutral and one a colour I would probably say go for it. Both pastels maybe not.

I like them both so no help on that front!!

I have duplicates of at least two styles of shoes and am quite happy about it. I might favor one over the other but the other comes in handy. I have shearling Birks that I have worn to death as house shoes. The shearling does add comfort fwiw.

I once had three pairs in different colors of the same style. They definitely wore out at different times. My only regret is that all 3 wore out and I can’t find replacements. It is challenging for me to find shoes that fit so I often buy duplicates.

I have duplicate boots (actually quadruplets!) It is true I wore some more than others, but so what? Each one made me happy and they all got worn.

I like both colours for you. Would you wear one as a house shoe, maybe? I say get at least one. Maybe both,

Late reply, worked too many hours yesterday. I found these other special edition Boston's. A long time ago I had a felt pair that were very comfortable. And look at these fun colors!

I don't generally duplicate shoes because they tend to be one of the more expensive things that I buy, but I bought the Eccos below in three different colors. Sometimes I wish I could trade a pair of them in for a different pair of shoes, but the truth is that I wear them all frequently.

That being said, I LOVE those lilac Birkenstocks and would buy them in a heartbeat.

I guess you are asking whether to get both pastels? I might say no unless you have much different wardrobe items to wear with each.

Otherwise, the style itsoloiks so much different in black vs fun pastel, that it seems great to have a dark neutral and a fun color. Then I’d wear the color as often as desired, & update the color later, so it would be new & different then.

Ooh good find of the felt ones (as well as the suede pairs!). I wore brown felt Bostons as of indoor office shoes this past winter, with socks and ankle pants. It’s tough to say which magic combo of styles you would get the most wear out of but you have great fun options!

I ended up getting both the lavender shearling (it was on extra sale) plus the pink suede. I just got them a few days ago. I’ve only worn the pink ones. I like the color, more of a neutral color than dusty

Awesome! I looked at my tan Birkenstock Kyotos and will be duplicating them soon. Lots of wear. Hoping for some interesting colours next season.
Just ordered the EVA khaki Gizehs, a duplication of last two summers’ shoes.
The old ones are worn thin. Tramped everywhere.

Keep one pair like the pink but return the lavender.unless you have specific plans for them.

I love color and I also duplicate so I would keep both especially since one was on a good sale lol.
