I do hear you - that's why I hem and haw so much nowadays over returns... there is so much else to stress about in the day that I just want the clothes to work and let me enjoy them. This also helps negative feedback roll off of me much more easily - it's hard enough to please myself, let alone the entire forum. Some things are not for everyone.

Maybe it's better to say: Think it through, but don't overthink it.

Well, I love the discipline because it lets me enjoy the clothes. The discipline and analysis in the back end is what frees me for fun in the front end. But to each her own. If you don't like to think, don't think. And definitely don't worry about a peek of pink underwear!

IK, yes, it's a huge relief to let go of the struggle!

We probably all have so many stories of how things came to us in those moments where we are finally forced to give up in sheer exhaustion!

I've also noticed that sometimes I have liked the struggle :). It was a habitual way to "feel alive". Letting it all be easier is a learning, isn't it? A new habit!

And isn't fashion a great playground to discover the energy dynamic between obsessing and letting go? And a fairly benign one, really!

Sorry if this is too philosophical!…the stories would be too long winded, probably.

I think complicating fashion is still less stressful than tackling the really complicated issues of life. At my age, it's my aging parent, the state of our small business, and some other issues I don't even want to share on this forum.

What you said "so what if there are things I don't wear" resonated with me. I have a maximal closet, and once a year when we close our restaurant for a few months so I have time to cull and sell on eBay. But I do sometimes feel like a failure here because my wardrobe is not minimal, not very neatly organized, and there are plenty of orphans.

Denise, I say you should feel like a success because you love your clothes and always look fantastic, current, and ahead of the curve. IK you should love yours because you luxuriate in their quality and they look great on your fit self.

@Suz - I didn't say I didn't like to think...

Also remember this is a forum where some of us come to solve fashion issues collectively... And that doesn't mean we are focusing on the negative per se. It's all fun an distracting compared to all the other issues we may face. Agonizing over PPL or blue hair is far more entertaining. I will do my best to keep it on the sunny side though.

IK - you are so right! (Although, I am one that would never be accused of over-analyzing anything - on the contrary, I allow my right brain to run the show too much of the time - so, I'll take a step towards analyzing my wardrobe/outfits and you take a step back, OK?)

Oh boy, can I EVER relate to this.
