Thx Carter & OMGL, did I find skinny pants?!

So wow, if you know my posts at all you will remember my issues with skinny. And that earlier I wrote this: I want Carter's EF pants...and everyone knows I don't like skinnies! But maybe these will be the ones...the perfect 10s that look sleek but don't pinch or hurt anywhere! Maybe...maybe...maybe??

Um...yeah? They don't hurt or pinch anywhere!! And I think they look sleek? Okay...it's super hard to photograph black pants and show any detail at all. The black ones (pics 1 & 2) are S, the grey ones (pics 3 & 4) are M and show more fabric folds. Which size looks better? Which size would look better with ankle or tall boots?

The S fits more skinny of course, but nothing is ever skinny on my scrawny 12.5 inch calves. Whichever ones I pick I'll need advice later on how to tuck in and stay tucked in. Maybe they even need to be tailored to fit tighter in the calves?

They both feel good so I can go either way. I don't think I need to keep two pairs. I did also order a black M so my choices are black S, grey M, black M. I kind of like the idea of grey pants cause all I have is black, but these are a dark grey so it isn't like the look is much new or different. I will tell you later which size I'm leaning towards.

Oh...sweater pictured is cashmere. I was not supposed to buy any. But...love the color, the fit, the style! I want to keep it! Too IT? Should I stick to my rule?

Definitely keep both the Small pants, and THAT SWEATER! What a great colour! What is it?? Those skinny EF pants aren't meant to fit like skinny jeans or tights or whatever. They look perfect the way they are, and I don't think you'd want to tuck them into a high boot, would you? I prefer them with an ankle boot, just the way you are wearing them here.

Hooray!! Peri, they look great. I prefer the fit of the smalls, but truly, the more "trouser-like" fit of the Mediums looks good as well. I'm so glad they work for you.

I decided to keep both the black and the gray. Even though the gray is dark, I do love the slight relief it gives when I wear a black tunic. I also love charcoal with navy, and I have a couple new-ish navy sweaters I'm looking forward to sporting this Fall with both the black and the gray.

I'll be following along for the boot/bootie advice!

Will you be washing them in the machine? What is the fabric content. That would play a role in which I would choose.

Lisap...I don't have two S! Only the black is S, the grey is M. I could probably exchange the grey M for an S if I decide to go with that fit. And really, I think I'd have even more trouble with the tucking issue with the M's. The sweater is below.

So, Question...I've gotten this ankle boot response before as well. Are taller boots with skinnies "out"? I never even got to try it!

Carter...I may keep both! Just want to be sure I'm not going overboard. NAS quite went to my head. But delightful Nordstom, I can keep "for now", wait til winter and see if I actually wear them enough to be worth both. It may be that grey in my usual fit would be more useful for me.

Peri, I am so EXCITED for you!! These are brilliant!! I absolutely love the small size. Get both colours in the small or even try the xs just in case (if available.) But if not, keep the smalls please and KEEP the sweater -- it is gorgeous on you. So worth it.

Suz, AviaMariah and UmmLila...thanks for the advice on the XS, but I think that would end up pressing too much! I think the issue is my toothpick legs, and maybe I can think about getting that part taken in instead of going smaller. Or just leave them and feel slim instead of skinny. But I may think about it some more!

Suz, you enabler! It quite seems like I'm leaving my minimalist days behind. I think at this rate I may end up with more clothes than I need! But yep, I am mulling over keeping black and exchanging size on the grey. I'm just wondering, since it is easier for me shoe wise to wear boot cut or flares, if I want grey pants should I just try to find boot cut in grey come real winter?

But yes, to Beth and all of you, I don't think I can part with the sweater even though it is definitely not a need!

On the question of whether you can still tuck skinnies into boots -- OF COURSE you can. If you can't, I'm in deep fashion do-do. I have to do it.

Having said that, the easiest skinny pants to tuck are super skinnies or leggings. Skinnies with as much give as these can look bunchy tucked, and that isn't too great. Unless you sew (or pin) an elastic under the foot to make them sleeker when tucked. And flip it off when unneeded. In your situation, this might be just the ticket.

ETA you could do it with buttoned on elastic.

I personally think that a cigarette style pant (slim but not calf-sucking) is the absolute most elegant and figure flattering pant around. They may (or may not) be fashionable -- but I love them, the way I love chelsea boots and the way I love blue and the way I love radiant orchid.

And the way I love when a fashion friend finds a HEWI that makes her really smile.

More love for the pants in size small! And I vote black in that style, if you keep just one color. I got that same sweater and love it! That color looks gorgeous for you.

Okay, decision made. Keeping the black in S. I've decided not to exchange the grey M for grey S. It was a hard decision because I'm happy about them, but just being practical...I still have to solve the issue of how to wear them with keeping them smoothly down into the boots, and the boots aren't all day shoes for me so wear will not be daily either. And the grey is so dark that it really didn't feel like a brand new look compared to black. I will happily wear the black ones, and be on the lookout for a lighter shade of grey in a bootcut style. I think that is a wise decision.

(Or I could start doing a ton of toe raises and see if I can grow some calves and make the tucking issue less of a thing!)
