Velma (and other knitters): this yarn will produce this kind of sculptural fabric. It's best knitted together with a strand or two of merino lace weight. Surprisingly airy and light given that it's metal!

(sorry for the derail, Una)

This cardi is so finely knit, I don't see how you could knit it except with actual sewing needles! But I am going to make my BFF who knits track some of this yarn down and try it out.

Oh my! A Helmut Lang sweater? How did I miss this? I am sorry but it is NOT POSSIBLE for you to have not bought it, and now wear it. I actually think it looks wonderful on you and you will use it a lot. Ok, I will take a deep breath and try to make a more sober assessment. Be back soon.

ETA - I have looked again, and read the comments. Well, I stand by you and your sweater. Perhaps I am just having extreme thrifter empathy, but I would flip if I found that sweater. Frankly, I would snap up the shoes in an instant too. Ever since the skinny cargo fad of a few seasons (years?) ago I have kept an eye out for them, but never really found the right ones. In truth I don't think I would have worn them if I had - but army cargo is not really the vibe I want to express here. I am not sure about the flowered shirt. But the sweater and shoes - sorry, I feel you must KEEP (if the shoes are comfortable).

Ah, keep keep keep! This is so very UWP to my eye - AS-ish meets gossamer-spiderweb-ish meets total awesomeness. And it can really lighten up some of the darker stuff from winter, too. Maybe over the Heed sweater?

Rae, I was waiting to hear from you too! I agree Allsaints steals a lot of the Helmut Lang and Rick Owens vibe so to find anything affordable with this look is enough to make me style around it. I could certainly use a couple of lighter colored items in my wardrobe!

Shevia, thank you for the validation. I can see why army cargo pants might not be the thing for you there. You would rock these shoes!

That cardigan is absolutely awe inspiring. Helmut Lang!? Steel!? Too cool for words. Thank you, Diana, for posting the link to the yarn. I'm a knitter and had no idea such a thing existed. I'm off to look for patterns.

Nice Summer cardigan. I don't mind it matched with darker things, although light would be fresher to my eye.

Um, so it has been decided that your consignment shop is Designer Heaven, right? Or it's a magic hat. Hmmm, with the magic hat theory.....jury is still out....

SCORE!

I can't believe there's a question mark over this, Una! It is an amazing piece that seems to fit right into your style. I'm fascinated by the sculpability.
