Sihaya, my DH can't stand the words-on-the-butt thing either! He always says why would any woman want words on her butt, it just makes it look bigger. It doesn't bother me all that much - except to say I don't like obvious logos in general.
What I find interesting about this thread is that there are many styles that when they first came out, seemed trashy but once they went mainstream, not so much anymore. Like the round heel example. LOL. I guess tongue piercings may someday fall into this category... but I still think they look silly. Tassajara, I am surprised you find eyebrow piercings tacky - I find that on the right person, they can look quite adorable and "right." (They'd look stupid on me... but oh well).
Regarding the LBT (I prefer that term to tramp stamp), I simply don't care for tattoos of any sort. I do not find them trashy, but I do scratch my head when someone as beautiful as Angelina Jolie would mar her body with them. I know we discussed this on YLF before. It's my personal preference and I would not hold it against anyone who has one, wants to get one, etc. It's just that I had a beloved great uncle who was in the navy and covered with tattoos - and it wasn't a pretty sight when he was 80, 90 years old! It's hard for me to shake that vision when I see an attractive young man or woman with a tattoo. Really, folks, they may be pretty when you are young with firm skin, but when you get old, they become quite hideous.
As I tell my teenage girls, fashion should be reversible. Because trends come and go. If you like the look of a tattoo, get a fake one. Most piercings are generally reversible but plugs are not. Etc.
... then again, I *also* tell them, "But in the end, it's your body, your choice." Once they are out of the house and self-supporting, they can do what they want and I will zip my lip!
