Maybe I went too far back in posts? There were a black pair of Oxford sandals...

Thanks Zaeobi! It’s more the feel of 6 than the look bothering me. I expected that because it’s pretty much all the same height, I wouldn’t know what was under my feet, but I do feel it somehow. I’m going to try 6, 3, and 5 on again when the others arrive. There are 5 buckles on 3, but only 2 that have to be done up every time I wear them. That’s the same as 5. But it still might be enough to keep me from wearing them, lazy as I can be!

I like #5 most too!

The Lascanas still haven’t gotten here, but at least 15 other pairs have, including some black & some metallic. So far, these are the front runners. Geox, part white & part metallic.

RL, you mean the ones that got away?

Those are nice FI! Love the studs.

Yes, the ones that got away.

I like the studs too!

I like these for you! Delicate straps and a bit of toughness with the studs. Did you try them with the clothes you had in mind?

Woot woot, I got the shoes I like best. Good news is I do like them on my foot as much as I hoped. They seem to be the right shape for me. Buuuuuuut this is clearly the wrong size. My burning question now is how many sizes I should go up. It doesn’t feel tight anywhere, but my foot is clearly a bit big. Will one size up be enough?

PS—my pinkie toe looks crunched, but really it just grows that way and I sort of have bunions on that side of my feet too—see the barefoot pic above.

Try one size up in that sandal.

I really like the ones you posted a few comments up! Geox - KILLER.

I like 5. I would pass on 6 because you keep things for a long time, and that sole trend is too of this moment and will date quickly.

Thanks Angie! I’ll order one size up. I also have a couple more on the way, pictured here—Tamaris and Kharisma, which I’ve never heard of. I’ll hang onto #5 from the first shipment & the Geox to compare with them all, but in the meantime am sending back the rest of this stack.

Cat2, that thick sole really doesn’t feel like “me”, no matter how trendy it may be—and you are quite correct that trends =/= me.

Oh I had a pair of gold chain sandals similar to the ones you just posted above (photo #3) &, whilst they were comfortable, the chains eventually started to detach from the strap They were threaded onto a wire, so it was difficult to get them back in place.

So when you do get them, make sure to check that the chains are securely attached They can be irritating if not.

Thanks to everyone who accompanied me and commented on this journey through the sandal landscape!

For everyone on the edge of their seat wondering what I finally did about white sandals now that I have the clog sandals I wore to my son’s graduation, here’s what happened: The last two pairs shown had fit/quality issues, and the wide pairs I ordered also didn’t work. I wound up keeping the studded pair with ankle straps shown in pix 1 & 2 here. I will continue to keep my eyes peeled for the romantic flat T-strap/cage sandals, similar to the ones that got away (pic 3), that I know are out there for me. If you see any, please lmk. In the meantime, the three pairs of sandals I’ve bought this year (these, red platform/clogs and Eccos) are plenty to keep my feet happy & healthy.

FI, those white sandals are really pretty - I love them! I think you did extremely well. Cheers!
I have been following your sandal saga with interest - I too have to order many pairs of sandals to find good fits on my size 11 feet, unless I know the brand.

Preppy Pear, thanks for the compliment on the sandals, the commiseration on the search (my feet are size 10), and for letting me know there is at least one person I haven’t driven crazy with all this footwork.

I can’t think of any shoes I’ve ever owned with that “bar” strap straight across my foot just below my toes, but I’ve never thought of that as a rule either. After this search though, I know to avoid it in the future.

Well, they look good on(!)

I stopped buying sandals with that kind of bar strap. They just don’t work on my feet anymore.

Rachylou, anymore? Is this a thing about feet that changes as we age?
But yeah, I now have a rule against buying shoes with that kind of strap.

I quite like the white sandals you ended up with, and so glad you kept the beautiful burgundy sandals.

Thanks Kate! I’m all excited about wearing the burgundy sandals now—just don’t know if I have anyplace to wear them to yet.
