The Clarks sandals - YouLookFab Forum

Here are the Clarks sandals I ordered. I'm going to return them because they don't fit, but I wanted to show them to you anyway. The are too long and just like I feared too tight in the front. The first two straps that you can't adjust are really digging into my feet! And they are more brown than I thought, really in-your-face with my pale legs.

What do you think about the style itself? Should I continue to search for a nude (for me) sandal? I know that I don't want very delicate strappy sandals for sure, but I'm not sure what to look for. I'm uncomfortable in a lot of styles, I can't wear ankle straps at all and don't really do heels.

Thoughts?

(I couldn't order the blue shoes at all, they had disappeared from the website. Not sure what happened!?)

I think you should continue your search . I have the opposite problem, my foot is narrow and long and it slides through most unadjustable straps. I actually like the brown collor on your legs.
Just to share a story, I once found the perfect nude for me ( and quite strappy sandals ) at a grocery store . They are long worn out, but it just shows you can still stumble upon
something by chance.

They look okay-ish, but I can see they're not comfortable. Too bad!

Do you have any sandals that you really like? If yes, maybe you can explore similar styles or brands? Some shoe brands I think you might like (based on my lurking on this forum and roughly remembering your outfits): El Naturalista, Snipe, Camper, Kickers, or Art. Marc Shoes are also very comfortable, but I don't know whether they'll suit your style.

Doro, I don't have any sandals at all at the moment! At least not ones that would pass YLF approval. So I decided that I would have to change that and I wanted to start early with the search to make sure I find comfortable ones. And thanks for the brand suggestions, I'm going to look these up!

Hi Astrid,
I'm sorry to hear your first choice sandals didn't work for you. Like Anya I am cursed with narrow feet AND I wear a 9 1/2 (US sizing). It makes my choice more "limited" shall we say. That combined with an inability to wear heels over about 2 1/2 inches keeps me out of some of the shoes I like. I'm sure you will find a pair that are comfortable that you love.

Oh noes, no sandals! Well, then I'm afraid you'll have to try a few different styles on to see what works for you

I know you live in Berlin, so if you have a chance to visit the Naturkaufhaus in Steglitz (U Schloßstr), they have most brands I mentioned above, plus Trippen, Think!, Va Bene, Jonny's and so on. Most of these brands are a bit expensive, but of great quality (insert passionate Why Trippen Shoes Have Changed My Life Monolog here). And you always have the option to try them on, and then go home and look at Amazon or Zalando for a better price...

Doro, yes I'll have to do that, I think there's no other way around it. And thanks for the shopping tip, I'll definitely try that store. I'm prepared to pay a bit more if I find ones that are comfortable and fab, so price shouldn't be a problem. I only need the sandals to be versatile so that I can wear them with everything. I had a quick look for the brands you mentioned above and I've already seen three pairs I liked on the Camper website.

I love how you've described the brown as "in your face" brown :)! I agree that your search continues...

(Side note, forgot that before: Camper, El Naturalista and Snipe definitely run a bit small, I usually wear a 42 but theirs were a little too short for me (sob!). So in case you're ordering online, consider that and/or look at reviews of other customers, too. I also know that both Zalando and Amazon carry all of the brands I mentioned, except Trippen.)

Aww, how terrible, Astrid. These looked so nice on paper (or rather, in pixels). I actually like the brown on you, but without size and fit, that's moot of course But yes, I like this kind of style for you (given what I've seen of your WIWs and what you say of your preferences, so I do suggest you should keep looking for a nude.

Incidentally, I've been looking high and low for Clarks in my city myself and turning up a big fat zero. After your experience, I guess I may as well not bother, since I too have wide feet.

Here are some looks i keep in my inspiration folder. They were found on yoox or something similar , and were not in my price range. But maybe as a style inspiration ( they look a little like campers models)

Thanks, Manidipa. I also think nude sandals are a good idea, they would go with everything. Some Clarks models are actually available in a wide width and might be worth a try, but these ones were regular width. Well, now I know that the regular sizing doesn't work for me with this brand.

Thanks, Anya! I like the second pair. The last two look very nice too, but everytime I try sandals with these really thin straps they are uncomfortable.

Just chiming in to agree with you on the Clarks, Astrid. Their *regular* width IS on the narrow side, that's why they tend to work for my narrow feet. On to the hunt! Denim skirt is FAB on you, BTW!

Thanks, Claire! I always had a bit of a problem with pulling in the front with this denim skirt, but now that I've lost a bit weight it isn't as problematic as before.
