I think it can be "casualized" a bit but as you say, it's inherently a dressy, or at least chic, polished, dress.
I think sandals and most open toes don't work as well. I think closed-toe flats would work, such as a good-quality more structured ballet flat or pointy flat; or a low wedge, or a slingback. It's not going to be a runaround dress, so I would not try to make it such. But it can for sure go from professional/dressy/date/blingy or more "approachable", like a LBD.

WOW. Killer stunning dress, Maneera. Perfect in every way. The colour is gorgeous against your complexion. Love it with the cream pumps and gold statement necklace.

To dress it down, try a dressier flat strappy sandal and a linen or cotton scarf worn muffler style instead of in a Euro knot.

Thanks Unfrumped. I agree with you. I don't want a look that's 'casual' as in jeans/tshirt casual....just a dressy daytime look that doesn't feel too done-up for say a lunch date. I love your idea. Pointy toe flats are my favourite kinds, so I'll play around some more.

Gorgeous saturated color that suits you so well! You have a lovely face and shape, I am not a big accessories person, and especially in this case, I think I'd just stop at shoes, and for more dressed, lipstick.

Angie said just what I was thinking! Gorgeous dress on you. For casual, I also like the idea of muffler or infinity style on the scarf so that it doesn't interfere with the lines of the dress. You could also try a cropped denim jacket or vest, or a moto jacket or vest.

Love it! It's perfection on you, you made a great choice to fit your figure and colouring. I'm impressed; I definitely don't have the skill to make decisions like that online. I like it best in its simple form, with the necklace. I feel a scarf disrupts its stunning lines, though I like others' suggestions for a jacket.
