It looks to me than all in general that so far the results on studying the correlation between one's sign and style are inconclusive: for some people it matches up, for some ti doesn't, some somewhat, and some find better fit in other sign's description. Maybe we need more data points

What fun. Antje, Jan 26, Aquarius. The decsription resonates with me:

January 20–February 18
Adjectives that describe Aquarians include inventive, independent, and original, and more often than not their style follows suit. With a penchant for looks that blatantly or subtly stand out in a crowd, edgy Aquarians often integrate at least a touch of sparkle or bright color into their ensembles.

That does sound like you Antje!

Agree, we have a match with Antje - one more good data point for me!

Ok, so of course I'm super curious and can't wait until I've caught up with all the threads from the last ten days. Tanya, pray tell, what is your study about? (What did I get myself into with my astrological sign outing?? ;-))

Don't worry Antje, it's quite a silly study indeed

The goal is to determine if there is any correlation between someone's astrological sign and their personal style, e.g. are all ladies under Aquarius sign funky and creative? So I'm trying to conclude two things: does it match the description on that website , and regardless of that, do all people with the same sign have similar taste, whether it is or not the one that website describes . It shall be my crowning achievement in my aspirations to become a serious scientist

Excellent! I look forward to your analysis I am especially interested in what you find out about virgos. For some reason, many of the people close to me are virgos; I find that there is quite some variety in their personal styles. Am dying to hear who the "most representative" virgo is - the funky/creative one who hates shopping? the classic one who always looks polished but avoids risks? or the one who has a few statement pieces in bold colors but otherwise doesn't seem to care too much about what they put on? My bet is on the classy risk-avoider, given my stereotypes about the deliberate, careful, and thrifty virgo.

Of course I'll be happy to share the results Antje! But my only data points are what people post on this thread, so it's going to take some time till I have enough data to conclude anything significant. It's an YLF inspired study of course.

I'll add to this for the study! Such fun!

Laura Elizabeth - September 6th (we're close, christie and Julia!) - Virgo:
August 23–September 22
Meticulous and reliable, Virgos tend to be perfectionists when it comes to fashion. Whether sporting prim-and-proper attire or expertly edited ensembles, Virgos have a gift for getting that polished look. Delicate fabrics and embellishments are often part of your virtuous vault.

I do think this description describes where I want my style to be: I'm working on dressing smarter, and this description nails my goal!

My birthday is December 26, Capricorn.

The confusion people may have when feeling like they don't fit the descriptions might be due to the theory in astrology that how you present yourself to the world is more based on your rising sign than on your sun sign (character) (your moon sign is your personality)...that's what I recall from my reading in my long ago days when I was very interested in it.

Your rising sign is easily calculated by knowing what time of day you were born. At 6 am, whatever sign you were born in, say with me, it was Capricorn...was rising, meaning on the horizon...and since there are twelve signs and 24 hours, the rising sign changes every two hours...so from 6 to 8 am it would have been Capricorn, then from 8 to 10 am it would have been Aquarius...on and on...I was born at 12:15 pm so my rising sign is Aries. ( there are also "degrees" of that rising sign...as I think there are 30 degrees as it moves through the 12 signs, 30 times 12 equals 360, the whole full circle...so people would be differing degrees of that same rising sign...not in "intensity", but just as a marker of what aspects it makes to the rest of one's chart...all your planets have degree).

The downside of those horoscopes is the generalizing...each one's astrological imprint at the time and location of birth is very unique... like a fingerprint! (and maybe just as significant?) But it's fun to look at....and I should add, CELEBRATE! That is my understanding of it, anyway! ...FWIW

I"m a Virgo - and since you know me Antje, I'll let you drive your own conclusions about which mold I fit into - or not

June 22 - Cancer. I haven't posted any outfits or anything, so you haven't all seen my eclectic style!

I definitely dress according to my moods...and bad moods = bad outfits!

August 14 - Leo

Tanya, I never had a lot in common with Leo characteristics. And I definitely don't fit the Leo fashion profile on glam.com.

Judy, I'm still reeling from what I just found. I looked up my rising sign and it's Cancer - which is *spot on*!!! (well, almost) Actually it's pretty scary how accurate it is about many aspects of my character. http://www.astrologycom.com/cancerasc.html Wow, just wow.

"Cancers often dress according to their mood—even when they’re crabby. With your signature imagination and intuition, you often create ensembles with expression, pulling from your stockpile of various styles. Chameleonlike ..."

Hmm, I wouldn't say I'm a moody dresser, but I do stockpile various styles, and I'm definitely a chameleon, sometimes to a fault. I'm also cautious and terribly indecisive and analyze things to death (neither is a Leo or Cancer trait as far as I know). I think I have yet to unearth my real fashion persona: I used to be a pretty conservative dresser, now I find myself open to lots of new things. Actually a lot of the times I feel a bit torn: I like clean lines and tailored silhouettes, and I also love playing with color and texture and shape and find myself attracted to eclectic and funky accessories. I realize all of these can peacefully coexist, I just have to find a way to do it well. And who knows, maybe in a few years my inner Leo will wake up

(sorry this is so long)

Lena, that's interesting! I too find the rising sign descriptions pretty true for me... http://horoscopes.astrology.co.....singsigns/

Wardrobe tendencies as well as physical characteristics!

I'm a virgo (Aug. 28) who tends to accumulate too many clothes. There is definitely a thrifty side that limits what I'm willing to pay, probably because I experiment a lot (creative?) and make mistakes. I would really rather be confident in a style and buy it when it first comes out and wear it to death, but in practice it's not happening yet. I also love accessories, especially necklaces and scarves. I rarely wear clothes put together the same way.

Bumping up for Maya

I had actually replied to it ages ago and just forgot about it. I'm still waiting for Tanya's final written report :p

AJ -- July 26, Aquarius (same birthday as Antje!)

I think that I am inventive, independent and original in much of my life but not my style. This fashion persona description of Aquarians definitely doesn't fit me. But maybe my trendinista side is just waiting to be unleashed!

They’re the first to find it, wear it and probably create it too --- their own sense of style is important. Aquarius are first to sport the latest fashion fads. They don’t care if the fringe jacket will be out of style next season. They’ll buy it and probably continue to wear it until it comes back in style again! 60’s and 70’s clothing is a favorite too. They mix and match everything and break all fashion rules. Aquarius like to be different and don’t mind being called quirky or unusual. They think whatever they wear is “cool” and a statement as to who they really are.

He he Maya, I think that the cat ate my report

Yoohoo everybody. I'd love to wish you all happy birthday, but I can only get the day right if you SUPPLY the day. Some of you have merely supplied the month, or your star sign. That’s why I couldn’t wish you ON your birthday, Shiny.

Ha! Duplicated birth dates crack me up!

Sihaya, my best friend has the same birthday!

Ana, I am glad you find it funny

We're almost a match, Sihaya, mine's 9/10. Do you think that has anything to do with our mutual love of the color red?

I have to think very hard when I read numerical dates in the US. Dates make NO sense in America with the month first!!! I demand a constitutional change.

9/10 is 9th October in my world. But I know better now – it’s the 10th of September. So hopefully Becky, I shan’t mix up your birth date!

Becky - cool. Maybe we can surface a new factoid about Virgos and the color red Tanya: I"m sure you'll always remember your best friend's birthday now.

Antje - I'm a Virgo - September 20th. I fit into the risk avoider mold that you see in other Virgos but I'm trying really hard to BREAK out! Ooh - and I love the color red too.

I am not into star signs. But my birthday is April 9th. I write that as 9/4 - just like Angie!

Hee hee, Brendan is in the same boat as you guys.
