Just wanted to say briefly, Congratulations! This sounds really exciting. Everything you said about dressing for the new job makes sense I look forward to seeing and hearing more about it!

Congratulations on the new job, Tanya. I'll look forward to your new wardrobe building posts.

Congratulations Tanya! I look forward to hearing and seeing more:)

Congratulations Tanya! What a wonderful achievement! Soon they will be looking to you for style cues, but I totally agree with your conservative while watching strategy.

Congratulations!! What an exciting opportunity. Especially the new freedom with shoes! But also the chance to look more polished after years at the bench - you've always come across as a very sharp dresser and I suspect your "quietly trendy" approach will make you the envy of your department.

It's great that your wardrobe can cover the first few weeks. Like you said, it gives you some time to absorb the way people dress and come up with your own style goals.

By chance is this the type of job where you determine if I get funding? (You mentioned council meetings.)

Congratulations, Tanya. I know that you will figure out how to fit in with your co-workers yet do an outstanding job.

Congratulations Tanya - this is fantastic news and sounds like the perfect job for you. This next step on your style journey sounds amazing. You are going to look absolutely killer stunning in sheath dresses! Looking forward to your future posts, it will be fun to see your style evolve.

Well done on the new position and look forward to seeing your style evolution!

Congratulations Tanya! I am very happy for you! I look forward to seeing your future posts. I bet you will become a style icon for your future coworkers.

Huge congratulations and very best wishes for your new job Tanya! You are always super stylish and I look forward to following your style journey. I learn so much from your posts!

I am looking forward to your new style journey in this next phase of your life. You are always inspirational in your fashion choices. And I too LOVE the term quietly trendy...I think I will adopt it as MY style goal, if you don't mind!

Congrats on the new job!

First, congrats on the new job! How exciting! I'm looking forward to watching you rebuild your wardrobe, and taking notes for myself. As far as shoes go, those black Vince Camuto's you have in the finds, I have them from last year in the cognac shade and they have worked well in business casual settings. My go to brands for my business casual clothing are: Banana Republic, Vince Camuto, White House Black Market, Theory, and Ann Taylor.

Ooooh Tanya!!! This is such marvelous news!! Big congratulations with the new job!!!
Brilliant how everything is coming together: not only does this sound like a very exciting career opportunity, but it will also give you the chance to sport dressier outfits on most days, which is something I know you enjoy.

Your current wardrobe is fab, and will be more than enough to get you through the first few weeks on the new job.
And I'm already looking forward to seeing more forum posts on how you plan to build your new warrobe. I am so exited for you!!

Hugs,

Inge

Tanya without a huge jeans wardrobe. Hmm. Has the world ended?

Can't wait to see your new style, Tanya, and I hope the job is everything you hoped for!

Congrats on your new job and looking forwards to seeing your "new" outfits.

Thank you everyone, I appreciate all the well wishes. And I am very glad to hear "quietly trendy" resonates with a lot of you - it is going to be interesting developing that in the context of the office wear.

Yes, not focusing on great jeans for the first time in my life is going to be a huge change. I must admit that I find non-denim bottoms more difficult to work with and less exciting overall, and I rarely really love a skirt or pair of pants the way I can love a pair of jeans. Of course, the rare pair of pants or a skirt I really like usually tend to be fairly pricey, so I will have to think carefully on the strategy here.

I love sheath dresses and they work well for my body type, but they are also very difficult to fit due to my very long waist and some other body type modifiers, so finding a couple of good ones is going to take some work.

Congratulations on the new job! I hope you enjoy it and your new-found fashion freedom.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you, Tanya and I am sure you will do great in your new job!
If those pants in your finds are all you already own then I would say you have enough to wear for more than just few weeks and should not worry about this. Saying that one should not turn down a legitimate reason to shop for a new job of course
I like "quietly trendy" moniker and will be following the future development of this style for you with a great interest!

Congratulations, Tanya! Sounds like some busy shopping weekends in your near future--have fun!

Congrats on the new job! How fun it will be to shop for a new wardrobe!! Can't wait to see all your new outfits!

Hooray!

I've got that same BR Sloan pair in that denim-ish fabric and quite like them. They work great with summer brights and florals and dress up quite easily.

Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing your upcoming professional wardrobe!

Congratulations on your new job! That's great news, and I'm very happy for you.

Congratulations, Tanya! so happy for you.

Congratulations on your new job!
