That girl with a cast on her leg!

Spring skiing sent me to the hospital where I emerged with a full leg plaster cast ( "toe to groin" as the doctor described it). Dressing presents a challenge so my question is show it or hide it. And what to wear on the other foot. I am 5'10 so the cast is quite long.

I would wear whatever is comfortable...I imagine it is a challenge to get something over the top except for maybe a loose maxi skirt or very loose harems or track pants.

On the other foot, maybe sneakers/trainers.

You will want to wear on the other foot a shoe that gives you a very stable base. (I'm assuming you're on crutches). You will also need one that is approximately the same height as your other leg so that you will be balanced. You do not want one leg to be significantly longer or shorter as that will really mess up your back. That was a big problem for me early on when I was wearing a cast and later a walking boot. Sorry to hear about your injury. I don't think you need to hide your cast but it's probably easier to wear a skirt. I can only imagine very loose and stretchy pants would cover it.

You poor dear! It's not a walking cast, right? I found myself most comfortable crutching around wearing an a-line skirt, and that's not particularly fashionable at the moment. I also found a very low platform shoe helped (totally different experience from sporting a walking cast). You may want to avoid very smooth fabrics. I found denim, linen, and cotton tops slid around and twisted less. Good wishes for your recovery.

So sorry about your accident. You should wear what is comfortable and stable. Your good foot is going to have a lot more work to do that normal.

All the best with your recovery. I found the Brooks Addiction Walkers, with a thick sole and stable base, a good match for my cast and walking boot. Zappos usually has them in black and white. There is likely a range of heights for casts and I found it mattered that they matched once I was weight-bearing; when I wasn't, I liked hopping on a wide, shock absorbing base.

That size cast is impressive; feel better soon.
