I just wanted to give a big thanks to YLF. Even since coming here and getting great feedback and also HONEST feedback I feel my style has improved vastly. I started out just loving to shop, buying on impulse here and there and not being able to feel great in my outfits. OUtfits were often a mess of hero pieces, the only things I bought, and often cheap versions of those. First lesson from Angie was finding a style, which I hit upon last fall and then spent alot of effort trying to duplicate one outfit that made me feel fab. Boy is that important, knowing and aspiring to a style!
Second lesson was having a plan for what I needed and no more impulse purchases. OK some, but they have to be 11 on the rictor scale. That was soooo hard, and even worse was (and still is) buying basics that let my many many hero pieces shine and not clash. A plan is priceless. I am still struggling to get myself to spend precious shopping time on those basics...but my list is for grey slacks this fall...wish me willpower.
My current happiness 10 level is due to really getting the PPP concept (hey, one concept a year!). I have never ever returned so many things in my life. I buy, bring home, try with my stuff and am spending the time to return those pieces ASAP (Norway has a very limited return policy so you have to get it back quick). The benefit is twofold, 1. I really don't keep pieces that fill a desire/need but are not 10 2. I am in return much more picky about the next item 3. I am much more willing to pay the higher price for the 10 when I find it! For some reason, I need that pain of trying to work a cheaper 7 version into my closet, before I accept that paying more and waiting are worth it!
I am posting a picture of my current outfit with the replacement jacket that is a perfect example of how this has worked for me. Picture of current happiness 10 version of stripe jacket with jeans and red blouse. Link to old version (see picture 2) that made me feel sad.(shoes are not helping there either)
