I've really nice random Italian made handbags at TJ Maxx and Marshall's. They're not name brands but seem to be quality.

I'm going to rephrase the question because I have trouble with the concept of an "investment" bag. Do you need an expensive handbag? No. Do you need a quality handbag? Maybe. If you want your handbag to reflect your style instead of just serving as a receptacle for whatever you need to haul around with you on a daily basis, it makes sense to search out something that will enhance your outfits and give you pleasure when you use it.

To me, the exquisite, high-priced designer bags are like owning art work. Some people get a great deal of pleasure from owning a painting; others like looking at the painting, but have no desire to spend the funds necessary to own it. To each their own.
