I've been total Fluevog fan for years and I think Mochi has nailed it exactly. The shoes are unique and eye-catching, yet extremely comfortable, if the last fits your foot. John uses different lasts for different styles (those are the families that Diana talks about) so it's important to try on the shoes to check if a style/last works for your foot. As for the designs, people either love them or hate them because most of the styles look quite different than the mainstream shoe styles.
I'd say that most Fluevog wearers primarily buy the shoes for the funky, arty designs, but get hooked by the comfort and quality. That said, though, I wouldn't really put Fluevogs into a comfort shoe category like Dansko.
