Team Janet and Rae. I used to not fill my whole lip when I did wear it way back in high school in an effort to make them appear smaller. This was obviously way before the collagen duck lip look came to the forefront! Interesting fact, your lips thin a bit as you age.
As it stands, I haven't worn lipstick lipstick in forever. I'm a stain or gloss gal. A few shades darker than normal most the time, and a lighter pink for summer fresh faced look for a change.

Visible but not intense. I have a small mouth and very colorless lips so both nudes and brights look bad. I like brownish pinks and brownish plums so you can see my lips but they're not screaming at you. Not to disparage bright wearers. DD for one rocks the bright reds and corals and I love her in those. But a small bright red mouth just doesn't cut it for me.

As far as I can tell lipstick lasts about 5 minutes on me. I am not sure where it goes after that, but it's clearly not the basis for a look that focuses on a dramatic lip. Maybe I chew my lips when I am thinking?

I prefer a natural shade for most days.
When I am wearing colours that are not ideal with my skin-tone such as black or white I prefer to brighten my lips with a darker shade.

I struggle to get lipstick to last, I think I talk too much and I've always got a drink on the go so it wears off super fast. When I do wear lippie it's a nude shade which is 'my lips but better' for going out I like a bright red x

Team visible! I love red lipstick and it's become part of my signature:).

I think of lipstick as an accessory - just like your earring or neck jewelry so I decide on visible or invisible basis what I'm wearing overall...

But I do tend to be on team visible mostly.

Team visible all the way. Especially when I was younger, I couldn't see the point of natural makeup, it felt a bit like cheating; if I'm wearing makeup, I want it to show! Of course I am toning it down a bit as I age, but I still like a bright lip, a smokey eye and color, color, color. Also I have that sort of pale, light olive complexion that begs for... color, color, color!
That said, my hubby recently gave me a super dark lipstick he really likes (Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame) that I'm too chicken to wear outside the house

I have worn visible sticks when younger but looking back I didn't really like it. I have slim lips and low contrast face all over (specs included) so esp. for some years now -as I age- tinted moisturizer is the everyday wear for me and gloss or a bit darker but still natural looking lip for the night out.

Team visible most of the time, and usually in the berry tones. Very occasionally I will wear a full-on red -- what I would love to find is a full-on red with berry (not orange) undertone. That would probably be perfect for me.I tend to go lighter on the eye makeup (my eyes have a lot of dark color on their own) so I like to pump up the lip area. Occasionally, when I am completely dressed down, a nudish Nars gloss.

I'm definitely at that age where lips are thinning and losing color, so sad.
DD, who is 19, has complained to me often about how red her lips naturally are. Poor girl! How I feel for her!!!

Visible for sure. In fact, I'm a die hard lover of a strong red lip on myself (once I found the right red). I just recently bought a lovely gloss in an apricot/pink/red shade which is quite a change for me.

I wear red lipstick. It has become my signature.

I can go either way depending on my mood and my outfit… so I guess I will have to bench myself.

Lol Scarlet, I often wonder how much lipstick I've ingested over the years.

Joining Adelfa, visible but not intense and a preference for brownish pinks and mauves. I have countless lipsticks/glosses in a rainbow of colors as every season I'm tempted by the beautiful magazine advertisements. I have not found my perfect red yet... the ones I've tried made me feel like I was all mouth even though my lips are not thick. My next indulgence is going to be one of the new Maybelline The Nudes lipsticks, probalby one of the darker shades – the sheen/texture looks beautiful.

It depends. I tend to like a heavier eye, so on those days, I prefer a nude lip or just barely pink. If I keep my eyes lighter, then I'll go for more color on my lip. I sometimes experiment with saturated color on my lips, but end up wiping some off and topping with a nude shade. But again, I think it's because I like a smoky eye!

My lipstick is a natural shade, but very visible. I love nudes and shades of coral/pink. I never wear dark lipstick. And never ever wear anything brown.

Did I chime in already? Visible, browns and purples for me.

I rarely leave the house without visible lipstick, usually in a rosey-pink or, if I'm feeling "street", a mauvish hue. I keep a couple of lipsticks in my bag, but I do not necessarily reapply throughout the day. I do always have lip balm close by and use it constantly. My favorite is an old teen standard, Bonne Belle Lip Smackers. I love these because they never go hard or waxy even on the coldest days and are inexpensive.

I prefer a visible lipstick since my lips are naturally pale. without it I look like a ghost.

Oh I would love to wear visible color, and am so jealous of all of you who can wear the fun trends and look fabulous. But whenever I've ever tried it, it entirely takes over my entire face and just screams "LIPS!" And not in a good way! More like a four-year-old playing dress-up, or like clown makeup. So definitely team Invisible/nude/chapstick here. Even gloss is too much. I've never understood why, but reading Janet and Rae's comments was enlightening. My coloring is very different, and very low contrast from hair to eyes to skin color, and I've always had full lips. Intriguing!

I'm beginning to wear more visible lipstick. I just recently got a lovely Max Factor one called Raisin which is a rich coral with a bit of a sheen and I'm loving it. I always admire how some of the YLF ladies wear lipstick that looks fab.

I had always worn nude type lipsticks but after my color analysis was told to "THROW THOSE OUT ". Now I wear some form of blue red or violet pink... cooler, clearer and brighter. They balance my eyes and provide color on a head with very ash and grey hair. I think with grey or silver hair - you CANNOT do orange- Never ! - forget the trends - and you CANNOT do browns or nudes...

Rarely leave the house without lipstick. Mostly bronzes and shades of pink. Occasional red. Only wear nude if my eyes are made up to be the focus.
Pale complexion and blonde/silver hair.

I'm team visible. I'm very fair skinned so I need that pop of color to keep me from looking washed out. Whenever I don't wear something, people ask me if I'm feeling okay.

I've recently come to love wearing strong lip colors, e.g. deep red, wine/burgundy, berries, etc. I think it comes from having more confidence in middle age (as a younger woman, I tended to want to avoid standing out from the crowd.)

I am not much for nude colors because those wash me out-I am pale with dark hair so I need SOME color. Not always bright one but its usually noticeable. Also it would depend on my outfit and eye makeup. I am definitely a lipstick girl, and don't leave home without it lol

to add-in terms of recommendation-if you have full lips, sky is the limit on what colors you can wear. If you have thin lips, I would recommend medium tone color or nude simply because bright or dark colors will call attention to the shape of the lips. Just my five cents:)

Team barely visible. When I wear lipstick, I want it to be noticed. Otherwise, why were it? But I don't like colors that are too bright, too dark, too light, too warm or too cool. Like Goldilocks and the Three Beans, it has to be just right.
