Tall boots for indoor use?

I love the look of tall, sock boots with skirts.

I do have a pair of tall boots, but they're too wintery for indoor use. Am contemplating adding a non-wintery tall, sock, boots and am wondering whether this is a bit silly.

I could also go for booties, but I do prefer the sleek look of tall boots.

There was a forum member a while back who lived in tall boots (albeit tougher, stompier ones per her look). I remember that in Canadian winter she would wear snow boots only to her office where she kept a variety of tall boots to change into for indoor wear. I thought it was pretty smart. True snow boots are too hot indoors but the looks I wear with them (skinny jeans, warm socks) don’t really work with shoes - much better with some stylish ‘indoor’ boots, which I also wear outdoors on dry or transitional days.

I think this is a great idea! If I wore skirts or dresses to work, and could manage standing in heels all day, I'd be all over it. The Bodens are really pretty.

I think this is a good idea, and very current. I've seen a lot of the midi skirts in stores styled with this kind of boot. That said, I can't wear thigh height of boots, either indoors or out, so I always stick to flat or low heeled boots. But it's a great idea for those who can wear them.

I really like the look of those Boden boots! I have them bookmarked for myself since it sounds like they have good stretch. Sleek tall boots make a lot of sense with winter dresses and tights.

IIRC Trinny & Susannah were big fans of 'sock boots' - stretch boots they called them, maybe - when WNTW and their books first came out. I like the idea with skirts/dresses - they don't look as gearish as many tall boots and look a bit more finished than just tights and shoes.

Well, you won’t get any arguments from this bootaholic.

The only thing I’d say is that during winter here lots of almost flat (2- 3 cm heel) tall boots were available. To me they look just as sleek and are more comfortable.

Thanks for your input and encouragement. I think I’ll just do it. If it doesn’t work out, I have a great pair of fall boots.

I might go to the mall next week to see if there’s anything flatter available, because I do agree with you Brooklyn, that the flat versions look just as sleek.

I think those ones that I linked to are only 2.5” and very walkable for me. Still, a bit lower would be better.
