I don't bother either. I go barefoot or wear knee-highs.

My clients like Stance too.

I swear by Smartwool.

What do you call socks that are in between anklets and no-show? My favourite of those actually come from the dollar store, lol. Mostly tho I’ve decided I prefer soft wool to cotton - my feet have started becoming hot sometimes and then they get really cold. I think wool is better at thermoregulation.

Rubbing is a problem! I have blisters from some Crocs that I wore WITH socks! Those have been trashed. I can’t wear Crocs anymore

Bombas! They are seriously the only ones I have ever had that stay put. They have the silicone in the heel but there’s also just something about the fit that works for me.

Laura !!!! YES ! I also LOVE bombas. I always thought that they were overhyped. Then the universe taught me lesson .They were an accidental purchase...and I was HOOKED. But I didn't know that they had no shows. I have their right below the ankle socks. I'll have to look.

Rachy...you have identified a need in fashion. A name for those socks !

I’m still working on this too. Appreciate all the ideas for brands to consider.
I also don’t like partially- showing no- shows.
Rachylou, I have Icebreaker “ minis”, sort of a quarter- top sock, in pale gray, which I wear a lot with chunkier “ real” sneakers like my Brooks. They’re just so comfortable because fit and stay put like a sock, so don’t have to be crimped/ constricting in toe like some elasticized no-shows. But haven’t tried their no- shows. A local store carries Smartwool one ms, so may try. Last year I found the thin wool very comfortable even in out hot summer.
But for “ low- profile” sneakers I do prefer no-show. Also I have a couple pairs of half- foot ones that work in shoes in which a full no- show takes up too much room.

I have also given up on no-shows. They never seem to work with my shoes. I wear low-ankle socks with sneakers and no socks with loafers. I do like the Summer Soles inserts for the loafers to help keep my feet from getting sticky.

Thanks for all the ideas and commiseration! It doesn’t seem like there is a single easy answer. I can tolerate bare feet inside some of my sneakers, but there seem to be some that make my soles feel very sticky — when I remove the shoes, the insoles try to come along, LOL. Foot powder only does so much. Must be a particular kind of material they’re using for insoles. I’m going to try using some extra insoles and loosen the laces a little.

I’m with Angie on this one. Also, you guys lost me at the word wool. Wool makes me itch so badly that I can’t wear anything that has even a small percentage of it.

I hate these things with a passion, but I find I do need them sometimes. They almost always slip down on me, especially the nylon kind. I think the Bombas ones are pretty good, but YMMV on whether they are truly "no show" or not. Depends on the foot and the shoe in question.

I use the Smartwools but not all the styles work on me.

Advantages of those in the first photo: They totally stay on my feet, or at least almost totally. If I walk up a steep hill, there's a chance they will slip a bit. Disadvantages: the sizing is not great for me so they are often a bit large. Which means they can feel bunchy. And also, they sometimes show a tiny bit over some sneakers. Depends on the sneaker profile, though.

Advantage of version 2: Doesn't show. Disadvantage: Sometimes slips off.

Advantage of version 3: Really doesn't show. Disadvantage: slips off the minute I put it on and drives me insane.

I'm not able to go barefoot in sneakers without massive heel blisters and (excuse me) smelly feet! So I fiddle and futz with these things all summer. They do keep down the moisture and friction and I love them for that.

I just go with cheapo Avia's- but I only wear them for the bit of time I'm exercizing. At this point just for biking cause DH and I work out barefoot, and I hike/do archery in the Birks.

I just ordered no-show socks from Ondo (saw them on IG). Not cheap, but I ordered one pair to give them a try. I have to say I'm kind of converted - they are thin and stretchy, cover the foot well and comfortably, and they stay put. I often wear bare feet but need an option for certain shoes that make my feet sweat. I'll probably buy one more pair so I can have them on rotation.

I like Sheec socks for no show. They have several styles and they are online.

Vivian, I wondered about Ondo! I’ve been seeing their ads on social media but am always a bit skeptical of brands I see advertised that way. Are they thin? I want the thinnest possible, actually, now that I think about it. Really just something to keep my feet from sticking to the insoles, LOL.

They are quite thin, Janet. Worth trying a pair!

And, I hear you about social media advertising. Unfortunately I click into a lot of ads just to look around .... and have definitely purchased too. I have to watch myself.

I have to wear no-show socks or I get blisters and my feet sweat and it's quite uncomfortable. I will only buy the Smartwool ones. They are thin and they never slip off of my heel. I love them. That said, my son has had a lot of success with some from the GAP - they are men's but maybe the women's version is good, too. Note that there are different "cuts" in the Smartwool, as Suz pointed out. They all work for me, but the one that comes up a bit higher is nice to wear with sneakers.

as soon as ondo were mentioned, i got several pairs to try out.

stance used to work, i really dislike the silicone band in the heel. the stretchiness of the fabric is attenuated and it doesnt grip my duck heel like a well knitted footie.

bombas are on my list to try.

Just popping in to report that some I ordered from Gap for my daughter to try arrived today and they seem quite good. We’ll see how they test drive but the price is good and I’m optimistic.

The superior OLD SMARTWOOL HIDE & SEEK DESIGN seems to be gone forever. (Suz showed a picture of them 5 or 6 posts back)
Suz, have you found any of the old style lately? (other than on eBay)

I think Smartwool cheaped out because the old style with nice fabrication required labor to sew the elastic around the foot opening. I figure the new style is all-machine-made (like all the others' no-shows) so they've probably reduced their labor cost and ANOTHER GOOD PRODUCT IS GONE. (so what else is new)

The new style are tiny and made in one of those hyper-stretch fabrics that I hate (with that stupid sticky spot to try to keep it up in back).

If anyone knows of a no-show like the old Smartwool Hide & Seek please let me know! Thanks.

I think smartwool are the best like a few others in the comments.

Is this an old thread? I purchased some Ondo socks after reading it the last time because I have skinny heels and wider mid foot. Nothing would stay put and I have tried Smartwool, Darn tough, Bombas, and many others. The Ondo’s win! The type I purchased do not have a low enough stance for some of my shoes however I see they have an even lower profile version which I plan to purchase. They also have wool and cotton socks which I’m more willing to pay for now that I know they work.

This is an old thread, but I did end up buying two pairs of Ondo socks and they are winners. They’re a little roomy in the heel for me so there’s a bit of extra fabric, but it does not wad up in the shoe, so the comfort is good. They do not slide off, even when I take my shoes off!

Janet, I agree, the heel is a bit roomy on me as well. The reason I need new socks is they have stretched a bit. Mine were some sort of poly-mix however, I think wool or cotton would not stretch as much….
