I have two from Danskin Now at Walmart...They fit well and are comfy when I exercise...

The Extreme Control Sports Bra by Anita Active.

I run 3x a week, approximately 4-6 miles each time. I need a lot of support on top. This bra is flattering, comfortable and has held up for a few years. I do not put it in the dryer, other than that it's easy to take care of.

I have other sports bras that I use for weight lifting, etc. This one is for the totally bouncy experience of running!

I'm another Moving Comfort lover ... I have a couple different models, but this one is my favorite. Supportive enough to run in, comfortable enough to wear all day, launders well. It also comes in plain black.

I wear a 32DD or 34D and a medium in this is a perfect fit.

No sport bra history. My little cupcakes have no idea what one is

HAHAHAHAH. Joy. That's the second time you've cracked me up today. I just read your blog comment about "old people smell".

Thanks so much, ladies. This info is invaluable.

I haven't been able to find one. I am a fan of Lulu but their bras strangle me. I haven't tried the Ta Ta Tamer. I don't do high impact anymore. I am going to look into some of these recommendations.

I am paying attention. The ones I have suck.

Wow- great thread, and I've found a couple of new ones I'd like to look for, thanks everyone! I'm faithful to Lululemon, but that's because I can run in and out of there , grab what I want and get the h#$$ out. I like sports bras to look cute - because they usually show with the tanks I wear (loose fit ). I'm a pretty healthy 34D and do need reasonable support and camouflage. I don't do high impact anymore though, so these seem to work well for me for spinning, walking and weight training. They are super snug through the ribcage and do not move around . These are the ones I currently like and have several of:

The bonus is that they look great with a sweatshirt or sweater worn over too - where the straps might peek out. I buy them in colours And like Jackie - I have to do a cookie search after laundering, but that's ok .

One more vote for Moving Comfort here. They have a good range of sizes. I own a "Rebound Racer." The hooks in the back are great: they allow for easier on/off, but don't compromise the level of support. (I don't have a large bust, but I mostly need my sports bra for running, so still need good support.)

Another vote for Moving Comfort Fiona. Best sports bra, ever, at least for my on-the-small-side widely spaced breasts. I can do everything in this bra (from high impact to no impact) and, like Diana, I SO appreciate the fact that it has a back closure, comes in sizes, and offers a bit of shaping as well as support, without silly pads that fall out, shift around and get crumpled.

Let me just start by saying that I like everything VERY locked and loaded for a high impact workout. For running or things like burpee intervals, I need a very supportive bra.

I just bought two more of the La Isla below. I'm a 36D, and it provides enough support for me when running. And with really structured shaping but no underwire, it's REALLY comfortable. It provides enough lift and support without total uniboob that I will wear it out of the house if running errands/etc. and not feel self conscious.

Elisabeth P. - I have the Wacoal you listed. It kind of underwhelmed me. It's not bad - it fit and generally met my needs - it just didn't live up to the hype. I like the wire on the outside (comfier than most underwire bras), and it makes a good general nude bra in addition to being a sports bra. I brought it as one of two bras on a three week international vacation so that I could use it for everyday and working out/active adventuring. But, it doesn't provide great support for me when running (the inexpensive La Isla is much better) and it's a little thin for nipple coverage when chilly, so I felt a bit exposed. Like I said, I like things very locked down. Oh, and it's very ugly in the nude. If I hadn't needed a nude bra to wear under light shirts on my tropical trip, I would have gone with the black.

Great topic, Angie, and thank you for starting it. I'm due and have been wearing an old Wacoal bra after my old Nike one was retired. I look forward to reading and comparing what everyone has said to make an appropriate choice for my needs and body type.

When I ran regularly, I wore Freya's Active Underwired sports bra. It did give a somewhat pointy shape under clothing, but I wear 32FF and it almost completely eliminated bounce.

I wear these Champion bras from Target. Inexpensive and provide some shape. They always have a good selection of fun colors too.

I can wear a basic sports bra and do fine. These Nike work well for me. Other than the color, they don't seem to change from year to year, so I just reorder as needed. They're fairly quick drying too.

32C (just) I rotate through 5 identical compression style bras that don't have cups, seaming, or padding by a company called Sportek. This pretty much flattens everything out, so nothing moves when I do.

I only wear them when I work out (run, bike, gym routine) and I get out of them as soon as the workout is done! They are hard to get in and out of, but there is no hook or metal bits to chafe.

Ooo-- the one that Anita recommended is also good. Intimacy stocks it, as well as the Freya underwire.

Like ATLynn I want my small girls locked and loaded for high impact workouts, like running and TRX, but I also wear for yoga. I like Champion and Moving Comfort. I prefer T- or racer backs. Due to a shoulder injury, I cannot right now reach behind to hook/unhook so am experimenting with a zip front Champion bra I got at Hanes Outlet. It's not quite as supportive as I would like, and I HATE the annoying pad inserts but it's the only way to deal right now. I tend to wear inexpensive pull over your head sports bras from Target for every day wear due to comfort. Probs not super flattering, though. I''m an A or small B cup so the stretchy pullover kind work for me for non exercise wear.

I used to wear the Moving Comfort bra that Suz linked to, but then found that I started to experience chafing, especially in the summer when I run and sweat. So, I paid a visit to my very favorite Nordstrom's bra fitter, and she put me in an Under Armour bra. I really like it. The only annoyance is that the removable cups tend to "migrate" when I wash it, so I always have to reposition them. I wish they were permanent. But otherwise, I find it very comfortable and supportive for high-impact activities. It's a bit strange in that they sell each cup size as a different bra, and Nordstrom's and Zappos only carry C, D, and DD, although Under Armour makes a B cup, as well.

Another vote for the Panache Sports Bra! I wear a small band size and have small breasts and this one supports while still giving me some shape. Most sports bras flatten me horribly and make my breasts look nonexistent, but not this one. The shape it gives me is almost comparable with a well fitting regular bra.

I was miserable until I discovered the Enell Sports Bra, but note that I do prefer everything to be seriously supported with zero bounce, and I do do HIIT, running, and so on. (Read their sizing guide carefully before ordering.)

I am another Freya fan. It is booorrrring beige, but it works and works under whatever top I end up in at 5am... I feel reassured that I am not alone in loving it.

Mine is from a portuguese brand. Here is the link:

I take a regular racerback or convertible strap bra, one that is supportive. Then I take a tank top from Danskin Now and layer it over the bra. These tanks have a built-in shelf bra. The two layers of compression-type fabric hold everything in place when I'm doing something like a jazz dance class where there's jumping and leaping.

This is a very low cost way to go. It works for me since I only occasionally would have the need for high-impact support. The racerback style is important as you don't have strap slippage issues and also the bra fits nicely under the tank.

They sell this tank at Amazon as well as Wal*Mart, the latter version being cheaper (although probably lower quality).

I won't link because mine are not available anymore but I have 2 different Lululemon ones I like. I think they have something for everyone with different levels of support & styles for different sports & bust sizes.

I've missed the main convo, but here to put in another vote for Moving Comfort Fiona bra. Hands down, best bra for me for running and other jiggle intensive sports. I'm ranging between a DDD, E, and F and I get the DD-DDD Fiona and it works surprisingly well. I've tried the Panache bra (the racerback) and for the price, Moving Comfort still wins, despite the fact Fiona doesn't come as a racerback. I have decided to not give a flip and let my bra straps show. It's what you do when your size limits your choices!

Is it bad that I read this as "Favorite Sports Bars"?

I have three, I think from Title 9. None are wearable without a top, sadly, even when I had a body that could be shown to the world. I think one is the Fiona but with my small frame I find it gives me monoboob. I will have to check the brand of my favorite one, which has truly separated cups and some kind of sling contraption within. I'm a busty runner/hiker and I need real support.

Well, thanks to this thread, I did some googling and discovered that the Moving Comfort Fiona is sold at Mountain Equipment Co-op, which just happens to be a block from me, and some colours are on clearance for $35! So guess what's going home with me today :). Thanks all!

For those of you that love this... do you not find you get an issue with... ahem... the nips? I dislike having to deal with the (re)movable pad things that Lulu uses, but the fabric on these does seem a little thin in that area.

For regular workouts, I use Elomi's sport's bra in nude. No monoboob and comfortable, but it does have underwires.

A few years back, before children and when I had time to play tennis, I opted for either Enell or Moving Comfort. But these are geared towards high impact activities and are definitely "compressing" bras. But with the sprinting involved in tennis, it was what I needed.

Just read closer that you wanted links. This is similar to the Enell I had, also in white, to go under a white tennis top: http://www.herroom.com/enell-100-sports-bra.shtml

Yes, it snaps down the front, no other way to get it on. Yes, it is a bit like a straight jacket, but once you pass DD, and you want to play something like tennis, I needed it to keep the girls from hurting.

The moving comfort was okay, but not as good as Enell. Of the two, I would recommend Enell for high impact sports.
