Sundance tunic...good to go or Chicos-tastic?

I've been reviewing a bunch of summer items today, and this Sundance orange print tunic is up for consideration. I haven't worn it for the past two years (it was a pre-YLF purchase), and I'm thinking of passing it on. It's polyester, which I'm not loving for summer + mid-life hot flashes. It's fine...but every time I go to wear it I end up putting it back in the closet and reaching for something else.

I can't help but think it's a bit Chicos-tastic. Time for it to go? Or would you wear it out for a casual night?

It looks nice on you, Nancy, but then everything does! And it sounds as if you've given your own answer. If you reach for it yet never end up wearing it, perhaps it's time to say goodbye. If your style is moving away from boho towards something slightly different, then this doesn't seem to fit.

I agree with Suz, it does look nice on you but you seem to have a figure that would look good in anything. It isn't a bad top but it sounds like you are ready to pass it on.

It's pretty. It is kind of tribal- boho. If you need an excuse to toss, then polyester may be your hook. I could see someone rocking it with white jeans( having just tried some on) so it is.more about whether you want to try to remix it or if you've got other items you like a lot more, let it go and don't fret.

I have trouble myself with items I can't quite find enough wrong or right, and sometimes they just have to fade away.

I would try it (at least laid out on your bed!) with other bottoms and in unexpected color combos to see if it appeals more to you. If nothing tickles your fancy, then pass it on.

I think that orange is really a difficult color to wear - and, to me - this just doesn't seem like your style anymore - that, along with the polyester factor - I'd donate!

Ditto Caro. In fact, any doubt, chuck it out is the maximum of my review process, since YLF. You don't love this top and I bet you have other items that you will choose over it every time or wish you had done so, once you are already wearing it.

It's looks great on you Nancylee (but then again, almost everything does). Knowing that you have enough clothing, and you're not wearing this anyway, I vote cull. And it's polyester, so that would make it a no-brainer for me. I have two tops from Chicos and every time I wear them I hope I don't look to "Chicos" ROTFL! What is it about their stuff? I cringe at the thought that I might be in their demographic, but here and there, I find something that appeals to me.

ok...when i saw the title...i accidentally read it as "satan's tunic" but perhaps fitting if you want to get rid of it!

btw, i do like the color and the pattern on you, but it seems a bit short.

Like some other catalogs (j. jill, Coldwater Creek), Sundance has been walking a thin line for me recently. I used to LOVE their offerings and sassy boot/skirt combos, but as I've gotten older I feel like they've gotten slightly frumpier. It's that pseudo-ethnic cruisewear vibe or something.

I say pass - it's just not jiving with your fabulous style as I see it evolving.

I think I'd pass it on - if I don't find myself reaching for things (for whatever reason) I know they are wrong for me. I need to cull a couple of print tops myself - both 100% cotton but both incredibly hot for some reason. Tight weave maybe?

Liz, 'Chicos-tastic' is a YLF phrase to describe the type of clothing targeted at middle-aged women (it's taken from the US store name Chico's) that tends to be a bit frumpy/dowdy. Here's a link to the store:

You've all given me good reasons to pass on Satan's tunic, as it will forever be known! Polyester + midlife hot flashes is reason enough. Plus, I just don't think it's my style anymore..as many of you gently pointed out.

I think it is pretty, but poly is misrable when you are at all hot. If you pass it over constantly, then pass it on!

Well, I can't really say anything, as I have an orange tunic that's very similar in pattern and color (Banana Republic Trina Turk) and I love it. On the other hand, I also had a "Satan's tunic" maternity top that I passed on after having the baby. If it wasn't maternity, I might have kept it (shhh!). But I agree, if you're not wearing it, why keep it around? More room for your fabulous kimono!

I admit, I pass by a Chico's all the time at the mall, but I never go in because of the image in my mind of Chico's Chic...I refuse to be old enough to be in their demographic!
