Styling these wide leg pants

I'm feeling unreasonable love for these pants, but not sure about how to style them, other than a thin tucked in blouse, which wouldn't really let me wear them more than a few weeks a year. I run cold in a cold climate...long underwear from September to May kind of cold.

Any suggestions, pinterest links, etc. for toppers or sweaters that could work with them?

Gorgeous. But there is no getting away from the fact that these are warm weather pants. Tucked top or cropped top with heeled footwear. Cropped jacket is cute too.

So beautiful. I would wear these with a nice jacket, a soft sweater or a trench coat. With sandals, pumps or booties. I think they can be very versatile, actually.

P.S: Not appropriate for a very cold and winter climate, of course.

I own and love these pants, too! I use them as dressy, but informal pants - bridal showers, graduations, those kinds of events. What will you be using them for?

For my needs, I have styled them with: a navy lace sleeveless shell (hip length); a coppery colored, lightly sequined, lightweight knit longsleeved crewneck sweater; and a black leather fitted crewneck peplum top over a sheer long sleeved black tee.

I think if you keep the hem of any sweater you choose up high, around your hip bones, that would be my suggestion for making a sweater work best with these pants.

Here's to unreasonable love for our pants!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if a short boxy sweater would work? You could wear it over a fitted tee underneath for more warmth and length, if needed.

Thanks Angie, probably going to have to pass on them due to likely CPW if they are that lightweight. And the usual fussy feet problem.

Tisa, gorgeous aren't they? Fear I'd need a whole capsule to support them though.

Bennett, would love to see photos of those outfits even if I don't get the pants. Visuals help a lot when I'm out of my comfort zone.

These are so reminiscent of old glam Hollywood. I would say one of my favorites Katharine Hepburn.

You could do a blouse or a t-shirt tucked in. A cropef jacket like Angie suggested i would tone everything foen and make the pants the star.

You could do long over long with a long vest or topper.

Not sure if that only comes in lightweight fabric and light colour, which is seasonally limiting in itself. But this cut of pants is my favourite partner for the long vest or gilet. (Probably because I had a "suit" like that back in the 70s.) That would allow you to layer at least.

Otherwise, what LeDonna said. Look at Kate Hepburn. Tucked in shirts and blouses but also all the new-again tops that go with high waists: Waist-length straight or banded sweaters; tie-waist blouses; twin sets. And I would also wear it with a longer wide shouldered blazer, because KH is my style icon.

I am not quite there yet regarding posting myself on social media sites, sorry to say.

I don't know why these need to be limited to warm weather only. I have been known to wear ivory tights underneath, they are too good for my intended uses to give up on them for six months or more of the year.

And I rarely wear anything but flat or low heeled footwear, including with these. Mainly because I find heels to be less than comfortable and hard to walk confidently in, secondly because I am 5' 9" (thanks, dad) and feel like that is plenty tall enough.

Did Hepburn wear heels with her trousers? I'm picturing her in oxfords, but where that picture is coming from, I don't know! I'm sure that's wrong, at least in movies she must have worn heels, such were the times.

Try a search on your preferred retailers' websites for 'wide leg' in pants, you'll likely find the same style and color pants somewhere at a more reduced price, making the CPW work better for you. You DID say you have unreasonable love for them, I'd say that makes it worth finding a way to make these pants work for you!

I have these paper bag waist pants and am able to layer under, tights on bottom and a thin thermal top under thin merino or cashmere sweater tucked in, to wear on medium cold days. Of course it's a dark fabric. I think you could extend try temp range if these, but you'd want to be the type person who likes to wear white pants across seasons.

I love this style of pants. I have jeans like this. I only wear them in warm weather because of my footwear issues. If I could wear my booties with heels for more than 10 seconds I would wear them in the winter.
I wear T shirts, cropped tops and a short blazer with this style of pant. I love them. I only have one WIW with them on. I am sure you could wear a long top with them but that is not my style.

I wear them also no whit but, I ove a wideleg pant.

I love old movies and Katharine H. would wera flats as well s heels. Reports said she was tall but she was of average height. I say if you love it wear it wih confidence and grace.

You all reminded me this morning of an inspirational photo of Katharine the Great. I don't think she's got heels on.

I'm also swooning over these booties right now. Who knew one pair of pants could be such a rabbit hole?

The pants are beautiful. I had a similar pair in baby blue when I was in high school, in the early 70s. I had a flowered shirt in a soft fabric that looked pretty with the pants, tucked in of course.
