The first and most beloved of my style crushes is the character of Endora as played by Agnes Moorehead on Bewitched. I loved her curly red hair, her cateye eyeliner, her long, flowing colorful outfits, and her attitude.

My current style crush has got to be the character of Martha Rodgers, as played by Susan Sullivan on the crime drama Castle. I love her curly, chin length red hair, her colorful, chunky necklaces, and her flowy caftans that waft as she walks.

Yes, these two characters have a *lot* in common. In fact, I even found a press photo of Ms. Sullivan in a purple and green combo that Endora probably would have loved.

While looking for examples of Martha Rodgers' style to share with you, I found this website. I love the fact that she wears youthful styles like patterned leggings, while also rocking styles that could turn frumpy in less skilled hands, like those caftans. That takes skill!

Incidentally, both characters are also overly dramatic (Martha is an actress), brutally honest at times, and a bit self centered, but ultimately devoted to their children. I wonder if the creators of Castle were deliberately using Endora as a template for Martha, or if it is a coincidence. Not that I am complaining.

How fascinating! You have flown straight and true all these years.

I, btw, loved Serena on Bewitched, my absolute fave show of all time. She had dark hair like me. Looking back, this may have been a mistake, since she's a wild one. Not that I'm saying wild or anything, but I lack a certain domesticity. I mean, I should be vacuuming right now but I'm not.

Well, the dark haired twin or identical cousin is always the wild one. At least it was that way on 1960's supernatural themed sitcoms. I always thought Serena was way more fun and interesting than Samantha, too.

Somewhere, while searching for Bewitched images, I saw a pic of Elizabeth Montgomery in black hair and a black tank top...looking more like Joan Jett than Serena. I'm trying to find it now, and if I do, I'll post it. Maybe it's from a later season, after Serena's style evolved.

Found it! It's from the 8th season, apparently. It looks like she might have dyed her hair instead of wearing a wig. It looks less wiggy to me, anyway.

Now that I've looked at it again, Serena looks more like Maggie Gyllenhaal than Joan Jett. Or maybe she looks like Maggie doing Joan Jett.

I loved Bewitched! You bring back some fond memories. I haven't thought about that show in years but I can certainly see the similarities between Endora and Martha. (I've only watched Castle a couple of times--I prefer the lead as Malcolm Reynolds.) Great style crush--you haven't strayed far from the path!
