What a great thread. Like cciele, I am most frequently complimented on my shoes (which are never heels), or, when I was in more of an accessorizing-phase, my rings. My all time favorite, though, was when a little girl, maybe six years old, whispered to me, "I like your shoes." I gave her a big smile and thanks and told her I liked her (sparkly) tights. She was too shy to reply, but I hope it's the sort of interaction she gets to repeat many times over the years.

Peri, if I may, my perspective is that compliments on items are compliments to my taste, so in that sense they really are compliments on me--my brain, my aesthetic, how I spend my time and money, etc. Just another way to look at it.

LACeleste--LOL!!! Me too!

I share your perspective Faith and think compliments on things validate one's eye and taste etc and are absolutely true compliments.

Kid compliments are THE BEST. Great story!

Ooh, yes, this morning I got showered with compliments by two clients. A mum and daughter. They said they loved my outfit and adored my shoes ( sorry no time for a wiw photo as I still have plumbers working here). They also said I looked 10 years younger that my age and asked me all about my skin care. They were headed off to shop and said they were going to buy a bucket load of the cream I use 'so they could look as good as me' It made my day!

Terrific story Diane! If they sell your cream across the pond, I too will buy a vat! You are lovely!

Aww, bless you! I use ROC. It has retinol in it.
