stark white vs ivory sweaters

is anyone drawn to pure white (vs ivory/off white) winter sweaters? Especially cable knits ones, the idea of one sounds so elegant to me. I don't see them in stores/online though, just ivory/off white. Is that what most people prefer?

It sounds very lovely! I think ivory is more common, but I don't really know why.

Maybe the ivory is a natural wool colour or processed a traditional way, whereas pure white would require bleach - since these sweaters reference traditional styles, I think.

Yeah, traditional aran sweaters (like fisherman sweaters) come in off white or various other natural sheep colors, so it's sort of more traditional to have those colors even today.

For me personally, I much prefer ivory/cream to stark white. It's much easier on my complexion, plus it doesn't show dirt as easily.

I think I like ivory, for the same reason as Diana - I get pure white dirty too easily!

I hope you have better luck finding a pure white sweater though, they sound lovely, like a soft bunny rabbit.

I much prefer pure white but find it difficult to find. And sometimes I buy things thinking they will be white but on closer examination find they are ivory.

Some, especially with darker skin tones, look stunning in optic white. I think these sweaters are more often cotton and will be out in the spring.
