Hello! I recently moved cross-country and decided to pass on the purple wool coat I'd been using as a winter coat for the last few years that was beautiful but also very heavy due to being vintage. So I am in the market for a winter coat that isn't too heavy weight-wise, but would still stand up as a daily winter coat in NJ winter. Interesting color and flattering shape are also priorities, as I had a baby last year and am feeling so bored with my limited wardrobe due to breastfeeding.I've ordered pretty much all of the Pendleton coats that are in the sale, haha, and had also picked out the Sosken Quilted A-Line Jacket last week because of the unusual color. I am usually around a US 14 but I ordered the Sosken in the size 4 (16) because I sort of figured European sizes would run small. The 16 looks a little big but I can't tell if that's just because I'm wearing it over summer clothes, so I reordered it in the size 3 (12-14).

I'm wondering if folks have any thoughts on whether this jacket will be warm enough for winter? Not Chicago or Boston winter, but certainly colder than Portland winter. I would feel more confident if the filling were down instead of polyester, but maybe between the quilting and the general roominess, it would work with layers? I am likely not to be walking around outside for long periods of time too much since we're in the suburbs now.

My other question pertains to Angie's recommendation that it's best suited for those with long arms and long necks. I have short arms and a short neck I haven't used my alteration credit so the sleeves looks like they could be hemmed to fit me, but I do see how the thick knit collar band might be easier to manage and fold back with a longer neck. Any thoughts on whether its stiffness and thickness will become too uncomfortable or not look as good for someone with a short neck? When the size 3 arrives, I could take some photos to compare. Also will have to see how I feel about all the Pendleton coats!
