Snakeskin Blondos in Canada?

Sorry if we have discussed this already....but has anyone sourced Suz's boots in Canada? There is a ridiculous amount of import duty charged to buy them from Nordstrom, but they seem to be the only retailer selling them. Maybe a Nordstrom exclusive?

I'm not thrilled with the animal print boots I did buy, and would like to sub these in if I can. Thanks in advance if you have any intel!

They told me at Nordstrom's they are not available in Canada so I ordered them through the US to a US address (not to Canada). I tried Blondo Canada and no go for those. So...

I wouldn't have done it except I already knew for a fact how well this style works for me because I own two pairs from last year. It's just the perfect last and heel for my particular foot and also waterproof so it seemed like a no-brainer, even though more expensive with the CAD to USD exchange rate. But I didn't have to pay additional duties.

I guess I'll be "splitting wears" now between 3 pair but that's okay. I wore one or the other of my Blondos almost every day for 6 months last year. Not necessarily for the whole day -- I might change outfits. But often enough that I felt another pair wouldn't go amiss.

What I find most strange (not to mention highly annoying) is that if these are Canadian boots, why are we paying duty to have the sent back to Canada????

I confess I decided to bite the bullet and just pay the duty. I'd ordered them in two sizes from Ottawa in black to make sure they'd work first. Sorry Nordies Canada... I used you. I did have to go up a full size, so I'm glad I did that.

I figure waterproof booties will get SO much wear, the cpw will make up for it. I know as my Aquatalias (also very pricey) have been well worth it.

The duty turns them into almost $300 boots, and I have to draw the line somewhere.....and i'm ticked off at Nordstrom half the time for their crazy expensive return policy too...

I know that Amazon has them, so just I checked and so does Amazon.ca in some sizes. I have NO IDEA what that would mean for the price for you, but I throw it out there.

Crazy, right? I am with Elizabeth on this -- what the HECK? A Canadian company that offers more options to US customers!!!!!

We should write them a joint letter of complaint.

For me they ended up being $188 boots, which is pricey but not out of line with what I have to pay for just about anything except lucky sale purchases. So...

I would pay what you did without issue too Suz. I was willing to go to $200 but beyond that it's smarter to search locally. Returns to Nordstrom are so costly, and I'm not familiar enough with Blondo sizing to take the chance. And yes, a note to Blondo might be worth writing.

Totally hear you, Lisa. As I say -- I would not have done it unless I knew the exact style -- especially since reviews were very mixed! It was only because I'd already worn the boot that I had the confidence. It's so annoying at times!!!

But if they sell really well in the US we *might* see them pop up in Canada in a month or so. Last year, the taupe version was not available in September. I didn't see it online in Canada until October at some point -- maybe end of October, even. I know I got mine in early November.

If that doesn't work for some reason - you can order the black from thebay.com to check for sizes, then return and order the correct size from Nordstrom. But I'm with you - can't stomach paying import and duty fees.

So...that's what I meant, too, about Blondo being weird and sometimes late on stuff in Canada. But also Nordstrom. Why tell me they were not going to get them????

Oh, I am PISSED! That must be new. I’ve called a couple of times about these and have been told nope. Not in Canada.

But... if they are now selling the snakeskin in Canada, I wonder if I can do some high faluting return/exchange thingie....

Have to do some math and some phoning!

And if not, I have to remember I was prepared to pay the higher price, so just live with it. Right?

Elizabeth - kind of a tricky one , isn't it? I wonder if the ones Kerry saw in her store were maybe a one-off return? That happens at BR and Anthro here all the time where footwear isn't even stocked. Who knows? If you have the time and energy , a phone call or two might be in order. I'm still very unsure about these boots as I haven't seen them in person. I think they are a bit chunky/casual for what I have in mind.

FWIW, Lisa...I don't find them chunky on my foot. They are a tiny bit wide at the ankle (i.e. they are loose there vs. tight like a sock boot) but it does not look flower pot because of the shape of the opening -- it is narrow. They skew between casual and dressy to me -- the pointed toe makes them dressier and the shorter block heel casual. The height makes them wearable with pants and dresses. I especially like them with a tiny bit of skin showing but they work okay with longer pants too. That's the perfect combo for me personally but if you are going for an extremely dressy look, these would not be the boots.

Blondo and Nordstroms BOTH have to get their acts together!! I am wondering if Elizabeth and I just got the SA brush off.....
