Yesterday I kept thinking about what I really wanted -- a slip-on athletic shoe like my Converse but without laces. I tried all the slip-on Converse/Vans styles and none fit. My Converse are the slimmer Jack Purcell version but I still couldn't get the laces tight enough, even with shorter laces. Then yesterday I googled replacing laces with elastic. BINGO! I just finished and love how they came out!
I returned the white ones today. unfrumped noticed the gapping in the closeup shot, and that was one of the main things that was making me hesitate. I think an insole would've helped, but maybe not.
I had planned to also return the snakeskin but they are from Zappos and require a trip to UPS, so I have more time to change my mind, LOL. I think they could be a good, fun alternative to my altered Converse.
And, I bought some chinos today when I returned the shoes. I haven't worn this type of pant since What Not To Wear came on the scene and they said No More Light-Colored Pants! Alas, I really wanted a pair for the summer and these are exactly what I was looking for. Vince hairclip boyfriend chino, for a steal at the Rack.
