I haven’t thought of Gloria Vanderbilt jeans in years — they were big in the late 70s-early 80s. But yesterday I saw this IG post — looks like Christian Siriano will now be designing for GV jeans.

I’m excited to see not a single high rise in sight in this photo! I know a lot of you love them, but my squat little torso is so happy to see some lower mid rises. May this indicate more variety to come!

I love me a mid rise or a low rise. I'd rather look a little longer in the torso, too.

I got together with friends from junior high school last weekend and we were reminded of our days collecting colored Gloria Vanderbilt jeans and Izod polos in bright colors (I think I got all mine in the back alleys of Hong Kong.)

I am all about the high rise, but always good to see a variety of options available at retail! Fit should transcend trends.

What a great shot! I appreciate the easier, sexier vibe of a lower ( and I emphasize lowER, not low) rise - and this photo reminds me I really need to learn how to wear a bootcut or a flare.

It looks like fun project but the pictures of the tall slim models in jeans often look misleading - what looks like mid rise on them could be regular high rise on average body.

I think it’s hilarious that everyone is complaining about what, two years of high rises? How many years did the rest of us have to suffer with mid and low rise jeans that fell down every time we sat down? I am going with about a decade.

Cat2, so you know how much it sucks when you can’t find current jeans to suit you or fit you properly. It’s not a competition. I am in favor of having a variety available all the time, rather than feel like a slave to trends that are mainly driven by youth culture.

As Janet said. It isn't a competition as to who suffers the most - not at all. Fits are so very personal, as are what constitutes a high or low or mid rise.

Yes, I'd love to see more rise-variety in jeans! The only mid-rise options are skinnies and I would like to try something a little more current. I always liked Christian Siriano, it'll be interesting.

I have seriously been jonesing for a pair of true mid-rise jeans with a slightly wider leg in a full length. No rips or holes, and a not too tricky medium wash (no obvious patches of white or obvious whiskering). It’s a HEWI for sure!

I don’t know why, but the idea of Christian Siriano designing Gloria Vanderbilt just makes me happy! It just feels like such a good fit! Looking forward to seeing what he does

I really love Christian Siriano. He seems on a quest to bring style to everyone, and I really like that. And I too am excited about the return of the midrise.

My Gloria Vanderbilt jeans were the first piece of "designer" clothing I ever bought. It was around 1979, and I was working my first job in the toy department of a small department store on Greenwich Ave (just stationery, office supplies, some home goods, and toys). I worked inventory one weekend, where we got paid in cash - $40!!!! - for counting stock all day. I drove to the local flea market and bought (probably fake) GV jeans with my entire $40. I felt reckless and also very stylish. LOL!!!!

I am a huge fan of Christian Siriano and thrilled he will be designing for GV jeans. Although I love my high rise jeans, it will be refreshing to see the return of midrise jeans.

Those do look cool, Lisa — I’ve only tried one pair of Mother jeans in the past so I’m not sure they’d work for me, but I love those frayed hem styles.

Maybe three or so years ago, Rag & Bone did a really good slightly wide leg jean with a moderate rise that I loved — unfortunately I only found them in a size too big and a size too small, and then they were gone. Hoping someone brings that kind of thing back!

Does sound like a brilliant match. And I remember wearing GV jeans in high school. And and I am also here for the return of the lower rise, which never really left my closet. Super easy to thrift right now, because the change has not quite caught on. Yet.
