Should I purge this yellow bag?

I loved it when I got it and for probably two years since then. This year, I have had zero interest. Possibly because I've veered away from whimsical, cutesy things? I can't really envision it with my recent outfits...

Should I hold onto it for next year, or open up a spot in the closet?

If it feels uncharacteristic and uncomfortable to look at in your closet, purge it. Nothing wrong with having had a few honeymoon pieces (fun at first). They help you refine your instincts.

It is a really good contrast color for your coloring and a lot of your outfits--you really rock those strong yellows, citron and gold colors. In fact, looking at the photo I go wow! But I'm not really focusing on the bag detail that much, just the great pop of color.

What is it that seems "wrong" now? Would you want to update to a similar color but in a different silhouette?

I kind of like it actually, except for the size. But if it doesn't feel like you and I know you're well in touch with your personal style, then set it free.

Still seeing lots of giant bags so I don't think the size makes it dated. However they may be more structured now. I would have to see a close up to give you my final verdict.

I don't see the whimsical aspect, other than maybe the color? Seems like it's just so big and unstructured though. If you're not feeling it, sell and buy something fabber!

Scarlet, I think you hit the nail on the head... it does not feel sophisticated to me anymore. Not in style or fabrication. So purged it will be... I just want to get it out of the house when DH can't see, since I made such a fuss tracking it down two years ago. o_0

I don't see whimsical, but I agree that this doesn't seem to jibe with your style as it has evolved.

I purged some bags for the same reason -- too slouchy, too big, too unstructured. I kept one -- navy blue with a corset-style laceup detail -- because it was a gift from hubs and quite spendy. I keep it in its bag and use it sometimes when the urge strikes. But when big slouchy bags come back around, I will be ready!
