I have the idea that "shocking pink" was/is a color and color name associated with Elsa Schiaparelli. Anybody know if that's right?

Hot pink- never heard anyone say "Shocking Pink". Is that shocking?

I am also team hot pink, shocking pink would never come to mind for me.

Hot pink to me is fuschia - dark bright pink. Shocking pink to me is neon pink (80's pink).

Yes, I know the term "shocking pink" and from Schiaparelli.

I'm with @rae and @jjsloane--shocking pink to me means a trendy neon pink (what I wore in the early 90's with other colors of the highlighter pen rainbow) vs. hot pink which to me is a bright, preppy pink and more classic than neon pink.

I was going to mention the same thing as April. I just wanted to confirm first so I looked her up last night but my computer is so slow the link still hasn't worked!

I've heard and used "shocking pink" for very bright pink in the 60's. It was the color of my prom dress. Now i think of it as "Barbie pink"
