I can remember feeling incredibly offended when I was around 19 when my neighbour said I look like a young Meryl Streep! (I was sensitive about my nose and this all but confirmed my worst fears <tee-hee - I giggle about it now!>)

I think I must have one of those 'character' actress kind of faces (she writes, rolling her eyes dramatically.... :-))

I've been told Mia Farrow and Ellen Barkin ... two women who look nothing alike!

When I was a teenager I was frequently told that I resemble somebody's niece / cousin / daughter... It drove me nuts as it suggested that I have such a common appearance that I resemble everybody!
Thanks God it ended when I entered my 20s and now I resemble myself only!:-)
Taylor, you always remind me Jamie Lee Curtis!

Yes, I've been told I look like Liv Taylor by a friend. We actually have a similar face-shape but her eyes are way prettier. She's overall prettier, let's face it lol. A couple of months ago I got told I look like Kristen Stewart (Twilight Girl) by a friend of a friend. Weird, but since I find both of them are quite beautiful and astrangely beautiful, like somewhat special, I'm fine with it. I take it as a compliment eventhough I see no similarities

Oh, yes, and there was this girl in my class, this was scary lol. My friend would get confused all the time. We wore similar glasses, had similar hair and dressed very similar (although she was slimmer than me at that time). Even I got kind of freaked out. One day she cut her hair and started looking like herself and so I could look like myself again and we were happy ever after lol I don't think I've ever seen her again -or maybe I just don't recognize her

Back in college, I had a few friends who insisted that I looked just.like. Lucy Lawless. Honestly, I think it was just the fact that we both had long hair and thick bangs.

Dusty, I can actually see that !!!!

I am proud to say that in elementary school, people thought that I looked like Marcia Brady ( I forget her real name). Being a little Portuguese immigrant, this made me feel like I had really "arrived" in America ! ; ) How funny.

Okay, I just remembered a minor celebrity who actually DOES look like me (because she's Indian), Kiran Ahluwalia, a singer. I think it's the nose...

Now I remember--I was told I look like a bloke in the early days of the Beatles--Paul, to be exact. You decide.

Maybe all that rock 'n roll isn't so good for face in the long run. Either that or it is amazing what a smile and some make-up can do for you.

Got to say it--this was a lot of fun.

What a fun thread! Apart from one or two Indian celebrities, the only "celebrity" I've been told I resemble is Pocahontas! I'm not sure how I feel about being told I look like a cartoon character...

This isn't the most flattering picture of me - I've lost weight and also cut my hair since then - but maybe other people see something I don't.

Firefly, when Aladdin came out, a friend of mine was constantly told by her 4th grade students that she looked like Princess Jasmine! Not the image you want as a teacher, but it was just because she's Indian and had long wavy hair.

I've been told for years and years and years that I look like (wait for it . . . ) Velma from Scooby Doo.

Must be the glasses.

haha, Una, I used to get Princess Jasmine too when I was in 4th grade and the movie first came out.

MsMaven, OMG, you could pass for his twin sister ! Holy cow ! It is particularly jarring since you are both aging alike too ( you are aging MUCH better than him- just looking like him - or maybe he looks like you. )

I always find it interesting when people of different nationalities look similar. I have come to believe, that I look very Middle Eastern ( I am Portuguese ). When I first moved to Boston, some Armenian and Iranian students thought that I was one of their "countrymen". I was so blessed and lucky to learn about their cultures because they simply approached me thinking I was "one" of them and we ended up being very good friends and teachers to each other of our little corners of the world. It really is a fabulous world out there with its wonderful people.

Isabel, I am the opposite of you. I am Middle Eeastern and Indian, and when I was in France, everyone thought I was Spanish. Very interesting. There has been so much intermixing over centuries in the Iberian peninsula, so I can understand where that comes from.

Maya, that is interesting !!! You are right about the peninsula and we must remember that the Moors came through and spent some time there "mixing". As did some Greeks - in fact the Athenian philosopher, Gomesius, moved to Spain and people started naming their children after him and it is believed that is how the name Gomez came to be and now Gomez is most popular in Mexico !!!!

BTW : How WONDERFUL is it to have these conversations here amidst the beads, boots, and baubles? That's why I love it here so much !!!

I learned something new today My username for a number of applications is PeppermintGomez, incidentally :p

I am apparently very easy to mistake for lots of different nationalities, and I find that what I get mistaken for depends very much on where I am. In France it was Spanish. At the Greek-owned pizza parlor by my best friend's college, it was Greek. In the Armenian neighborhood my friend lives in near Boston, it was Armenian.

And so on....

That is interesting about you !!! With me, it is usually Middle Eastern or Armenina no matter where I am. Except one time in the northern part of MI, at a truck stop, I ordered a some breakfast and the women said, " Let me guess, you're Bostonian." It definitely wasn't my "look" !!!!

Maya, have a great holiday my fab friend !!!!!!
