Hi everyone. I came to realize that if a garment needs "help" to be worn (i.e., special bra, camisole), then it was never meant to be. I could continue to try and "force" myself to wear it, but I will never be happy with it.
I also realized that if I am keeping a particular garment until I find something better, I have no incentive to actually shop for something better. I am settling.
Caslon black tee shirt. Goodwill.
Black bra bought specifically to wear under the Caslon black tee shirt because the tee shirt was embarrassingly sheer. Goodwill.
Why the bra? It never fit as well as my more expensive bras. It seems I settled on that front as well.
Finally, the brand Caslon. I fell in love with it last year but I came to realize too late that the garments stretch OUT beyond belief. So it fits perfectly when I first put it on, but by the end of the day it is multiple, multiple sizes too big.
So the purpose of our challenge was to find ways to wear our unworn items. If we couldn't find a way to wear them that made us happy, we learned why it failed and how to avoid a similar failure in the future.
I will continue to buy tee shirts. I will only buy tee shirts are opaque. This is nonnegotiable. As much as I love Caslon, I will start looking for other brands that are a bit more fitted and that don't stretch out.
And a word on bras. Victoria Secret bras seem to fit me the best. I don't know why, but those are the bras I reach for when I want absolute comfort and fit. Other brands that are very highly recommended just don't seem to fit me as well. I can "feel" myself wearing them. I don't want to be aware of my bra the entire day long.
