chrissy09, that Frame top is lovely! Alas, it doesn't come in my size.
unfrumped, would you believe that EF scarf is actually the -cheapest- of the three?!
EVERYONE - Thank you so much for all the thoughts and input. It's funny that my husband and son BOTH voted for #3 and almost no one here did. That being said, I have a decision and you're not going to like it...
I'm sending them all back.
The rust Halogen wrap is a beautiful color, warm, and soft, but...it's too bulky for me to easily fold into a bag for travel without taking up a ton of space. Secondly, the quality isn't where I want it to be, as I noticed a loose bit of yarn sticking out from one of the ribs. And finally, while I love the look of tassels, they're a huge temptation for the cats I live with, one of whom has an odd taste for cashmere already.
The quality is there on the striped Eileen Fisher scarf. It's woven in stripes of a charcoal wool/cashmere and diaphanous Tencel. I love the colors and the texture, but I know from my tracking that patterned scarves of this size and weight get very little love in my wardrobe. It's not quite large enough to feel luxurious, and not quite cozy enough to be a functional wrap.
The tan Halogen scarf was the best scarf of the bunch, and the hardest for me to let go. It's a feather-light knit, luxuriously soft, and a near-square shape that would be unique in my wardrobe. It would have been difficult for me to keep one of the other two scarves after feeling this one. However, not only is the tan color not very flattering, but it wouldn't work with my tan trench coat. If it came in the same rust as the wrap, it would be mine. I considered ordering it in black as a utility piece, but...
It's early days in the scarf season! If rust is as ubiquitous as I think it might be this year, there will be more options. I have plenty of scarves, so there's no reason to add one unless it's the perfect long-term addition to my wardrobe. I can be patient and wait this out.
