Thanks, everyone. The outpouring of love for her from her friends and family on FB has been a comfort, and a silver lining of all of this is that we are all getting to see photos for the first time that others have in their collections. She was well and truly loved, and for good reason!

Her family is planning a Celebration of Life (she specified a "BIG ASS PARTY" a couple of weeks ago, LOL), and they want everyone to wear bright colors, which she loved and wore beautifully. That has made me realize that my wardrobe colors are mostly quite subdued! I may need to keep an eye out for a bright top or sweater to make me smile when I think of her and wear it.

I'm very sorry to hear this, Janet. She sounds like she was a very close friend, and I'm sure you miss her deeply.

So sorry for the loss of such a dear friend. Your pictures are wonderful and a real testament to friendships that stand the test of time.

Very sorry for the loss of your dear friend, such wonderful pictures to remember your time together.

I’m so sorry about this difficult loss, Janet. She was (is) beautiful, and so is the friendship you describe.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your friend, Janet. Lots to grieve; friends from childhood are extra special and somehow are keepers of our early history, too. The pictures capture your closeness.

Take good care of yourself as you remember. (Your butterfly skirt may come in handy for a base for brighter color.) Keeping a good thought for you at this sad time.

I love the idea of a "BIG ASS PARTY". Death is so difficult and hard to wrap our minds around. I like the idea of focusing on and celebrating the life one lived and what they meant to you as opposed to a solemn event which funerals often are.

And yes, I agree with Eliza that your butterfly skirt might be great with a colourful top.

Janet, I’m so sorry. Thanks for sharing those wonderful pictures of both of you through the years.

Oh no, I'm so sorry. Cancer is a horrible thing. The pictures you posted are great, so many memories. I found that I really cherish the pictures of loved ones especially after they have passed away.

What beautiful photos of a beautiful friendship. You were there for each other through all those significant moments in life and shared so much together, these friendships are so special. It seems so wrong that someone so youthful and vital could be gone.

I would buy a special 'her' top. My Mum died 2 years ago and loved yellow, I never wore it myself, but have added some since her death, it always reminds me of her when I wear it.

I am really sorry for your loss Janet.

So sorry Janet ... sending lots of love and light to you, and to your friend's family xx

Very sad. You don't move on, it just is. Treasure the friends and partners you love, while we are all still here.

I'm so sorry to hear this. My thoughts are with you.

I am so sorry for your loss.

The photos speak of so much warmth, friendship, and beautiful memories.

I am so, so sorry for your loss.

So sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing the lovely pictures of you and your friend throughout the years.

I am so sorry for your loss. You have put up a very lovely memorial on this site.

So sorry to hear of your loss - it's not everyday that you can have such a friend. She looked like someone who was very happy and full of love, and you can tell what good friends you were.

That sucks Janet. So sorry.
