Red Boden heels arrived

The red Cathrine mid heels finally arrived. Pretty colour and suede, but one size too large (I ordered my usual EUR37). An insole can easily save the size issue. I think they can be comfy when broken in. Right now there is a slight rubbing on the inside of where my feet is the widest (where the big toe and foot meet). And there is toe cleavage.

How do they look? What do you think of toe cleavage?

Sorry fot bad pic quality. The colour is a really nice tomato red. (It's too much fuzz to return them because of international shipping, return costs etc). Note to self: in-store shopping is safer and less expensive even though I might not find the exact piece I'm looking for.

They are very pretty and toe cleavage does not seem too much, nonetheless I would like to see them in a smaller size .... but I understand the issue. Are you sure they will be comfortable, insole and all?

They are really pretty, and I can see them really uplifting any and all outfits... but I worry about the rubbing. I don't know if that sort of thing ever goes away.

I like how they look on you. I suppose if you can't return them you can try all the possibilities -- insole, blister block on the side of your foot, wear nylons -- to prevent rubbing as you make them work for you.

They are gorgeous on you! But I hope you are right about the insole. Worrisome. It is indeed very hard to order online. My most successful ventures are those where returns are free, or where I have tried that company's products on in the past in person, so have a clearer idea of sizing. Shoes are especially unforgiving so one of the hardest things to order online, along with bras. Things like knits and tees are usually safe if you read reviews carefully. Shirts and jackets and coats and dresses and pants are better if you know the line. And shoes...well... We just lost one of our biggest Canadian online retailers of footwear and I am devastated because it means my options for online shoe shopping have just been cut by a lot!

They are such cute shoes and it's too bad they aren't a 10 for you. I'm ambivalent about the toe cleavage , I will admit.

I'm also curious who the Cdn online footwear retailer is that Suz mentioned.

(I am STILL waiting for mine. I used to take a 37 - and that's what I ordered. But my feet are shrinking and more of a 36 or 36.5 these days. I guess they might be too big for me).

I like them too, Monica. Pretty shoe and gorgeous colour. Test their comfort at home first.

Toe cleavage makes me giggle. One time I was shopping with a friend and our teenage daughters (years ago!) and one of the girls commented on it and my friend said "it's called toe cleavage and it's sexy as he$$"

So because of that it's humorous to me but I don't care about seeing it or not.

The rubbing does sound a bit troubling but they are very pretty.

I actually like a bit of toe cleavage and do think it is sexy to show a bit -- it's not really about the toes, per se (although it probably is for some -- ick!) but more about exposure generally. Weird, I know! But I just tried some shoes from Intentionally Blank that are cut much higher and I found it very odd looking. Some shoes, like loafers, you expect to have a lot of coverage. But when a pump has too much coverage I think it looks off.

PS Angie: still waiting??? I actually canceled my order because I was waiting so long. No patience over here.

I agree with Viva--I think toe cleavage is sexy in an offbeat way . . . fond memories of my old red Capezio ballet flats and that little bit of toe revealed. I would worry more about the rubbing and sizing problems with these adorable shoes. A little patch of moleskin might help with the rubbing, and I hope the innersoles makes the sizing better.

Sorry... about the shoes I'm not a fan of toe cleavage, but it's not bad here, at all. I think with an insole, and some of those fantastic Hue socky things that just fit over your toes, you'll be sorted. I hope.

Yes, Viv. I'm patient with my wardrobe. I'm waiting for the shoes.

As for toe cleavage, it's inevitable with long toes and low vamped shoes. (Welcome to my world). I don't mind it one bit if the shoes fit really well. It's the least of my concerns when you have fussy feet and need comfortable dressy shoes.

I don't like toe clevage on shoes where the shoes are too narrow for wide feet. That's ill-fitting and I'm inclined to say NEXT.

Thank you all for you comments and insights. The shoes are soo pretty! BUT....

I've walked with them around the house with thick wool socks and insoles. They are not comfortable. I'll try to break them in anyway. I had success with long break in periods years ago, but now I try to be picky and only buy shoes that are comfy. This time I did a conscious choice of trying out a online purchase. Let's just say that I've learned what not to do.

Sisi, viva - the insoles work really well. I had to add both a half insole (in the toe box and a full length one.

RL - rubbing can go away, but it takes MUCH effort (and pain)

UmmLila - oh, yes, I need blister blocks. Thanks for the reminder!

viva - I totally agree, but will try to make these work anyway. Interesting perspective about coverage and shoe type. I never given it much thought, but I think you have a point.

Suz - I take notes of your strategy! Too bad about the online store.

Angie - keep us updated when they arrive! The shoes are sooo pretty! They might be too large. I think your feet might be a bit narrower than mine because the Ecco sneaks from last year fit me perfectly.
And your patience is incredible and I try to follow in your path, but I know I'm whimsical and easily distracted.

Susie - never crossed my mind that that toe cleavage could be regarded as sexy. *giggle*

I have *very* long toes so cleavage is common for me. I don't think it's particularly sexy or not. It just is.

The style is really cute on you and the color is nice too BUT it would be a shame if you couldn't enjoy either because they hurt. Maybe keep looking?

Isabel - I'll work on the red Boden shoes and see how it goes. I'll also keep a look out for similar styles because pretty, red shoes makes me smile instantly.

Such a pretty shoe! But to me they look a little too big for your foot. The strap looks loose and the toe cleavage makes it look like your toes can't reach into the toe box.

If you are interested in re-selling them and getting a good price, try listing them on the Tradesy website. I've seen people get almost the same price they paid for trendy, in-store items, sometimes even more than what they paid!
