We have had a very mild winter. No snow to speak of. My heavier and longer wool coats got almost no wear, and neither did many of my hats and warmer scarves, but I’m not about to get rid of them. Who knows what next winter will bring? I only have a couple of thicker, warmer sweaters and it will stay that way — clearly, for me in our climate, light knit layers are the way to go for winter. I’d rather have a lightweight cocoon style or other roomy coat to throw over a top with a leather jacket.
I’m all but done with skinnies. I wore them a handful of times this winter, mostly because I wanted to dust off my knee-high boots from time to time. See the outfit in the pics below for an example, with my Stuart Weitzman boots. Not trendy, but I still like that top a lot even though I never wear tunics anymore. I thought about getting it hemmed to a shorter length. But again, not getting rid of my tall boots because they all fit well, are comfortable and classic, and I may get into them more in future seasons. I don’t mind storing them in the meantime.
Spring seems to be arriving here early. I’m trying not to be tempted into purchasing things for what is traditionally a short transitional season around here. But I do start craving lighter color palettes. I’m thinking I should try wearing my white tops more and make do with accessorizing with scarves and jewelry.
I need to look carefully at my spring/summer bottoms. I think most of my shorts still have some life in them, even if they’re a bit worn. I don’t mind a little RATE in summer. Could probably use a pair or two of lightweight breezy utility crops or joggers if I find really good ones.
I would like to refresh with maybe one or two — but no more — pairs of sandals that look very current. I don’t want to buy too early because I often buy early and then find something better later, but I also get a bit of FOMO. I’m a bit hard on my sandals, and these days comfort is Queen! Definitely looking to add a pair of snake print sneakers — I have some very old slip on ones that I love but they’re getting stretched out. Ordering these Naturalizers to try.
