Question about uploading Profile Picture

I've been into my "profile page" and can upload a picture, but I run into trouble when I get to the part where I am supposed to crop the picture for a thumbnail view and I cannot click on the "select and continue" button it just comes up as a cross like i'm still cropping the picture. Probably a dumb question but I cant figure it out

Karen, I know that the profile picture tool is quite a pain to use, but it works better in some browsers than others. Can you let me know which one you are using, and whether you are using a Windows PC or Mac?

I'm also going to jump in here and tell you that I can't even get my picture to download. It acts like it's downloading and takes forever but then nothing happens. I'm using Internet Explore 8 on a Windows 7 PC

Greg, can you recommend a browser to use for profile pictures? I'm on a Windows 7 PC and usually use firefox, but I have IE and Chrome as well. Thanks!

Following up on this one, it seems that the profile picture code goes a little crazy under IE8 when the picture is in portrait orientation (i.e. higher than it is wide). In the longer term I will fix this bug, but in the meantime things seem to work ok if you make the picture square before uploading.

Kate, I would say FF is the best bet on Windows. Chrome is very promising, but still a little strange sometimes. Although IE is miles better than it used to be, most web developers have migrated to FF and test there more than any other browser. IE might close the gap now that IE8 has better dev tools, but that will take a while.
