Q about proportions and ppl

These are not-great photos I snapped yesterday but mostly I'm curious about the jeans. I bought them to wear rolled up boyfriend style but was surprised to see I didn't mind them unrolled, ankle length, with flats. This was a length I never used to wear because I was afraid it just looked like my pants were too short. Does it work, and does it work with the shorter cardigan over the longer tank? Or should I nix the whole idea?

I'm a fan of very long length hems for bootcuts and for straight legs/skinnies such as these, I prefer some scrunch. So my vote is nay, too short. I'll be curious what others have to say. Pretty peach color cardigan here!

I've attempted the same thing, but without scrunch, even a narrow-legged pant looks too short. I think the tee and sweater lengths work though.

It's not too bad because the shoes are almost nude for you. So that prevents it from feeling completely cut off. And as your own proportions change (as they continue to do! Wow!) you will notice different things work than used to. I would still like to see them longer myself, but no one will call the fashion police if you go out like this!

I think it works with the cardi and longer tank because the contrast between them isn't too high.

I have some pants like that, in that length. The reason they work is because they have a narrow leg opening and because I wear them with heeled sandals that have a low vamp. I also tuck them into boots in the cooler months. I think they look odd with flats. Just my opinion, though. Others may think they're just fine.

I also feel that skinny or slim-legged pants look best with longer tops, preferably not too form fitting.

The rule I've read, and try to follow, is: The wider the pant leg, the longer the length should be. When my mother used to sew for me, she followed this rule as well. For more information, see:

I have kind of a poison eye for this length, although it helps that your shoes are low contrast, but I think this length is best when tucked into boots... love your peachy cardi... looks so pretty with your coloring.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. So far the votes are nay. Suz, you hit on something I'd been thinking over too - 30 pounds ago there was no way I'd wear ankle-length anything, too much difference between the wide middle and the narrow ankle - too ice-cream-cone-ish. But now that my midsection is less...endowed these days, I think it's closer to almost working.

I keep on seeing model shots with this length jeans/pants - is it just that they're willowy and tall so it works for them but not for us normal humans? I may try a version with a different top and maybe a wedge heel, just for funsies. Also, I recently thrifted a pair of pants that have a similar length, kind of Audrey Hepburn esque, that I want to photograph and post for y'all to critique, see if it works or if I need to lower the hem.

The cardigan is new - Lands' End's Canvas line on clearance - to replace a similar colored cardigan that I wore to death last winter that is now too big.

Well, um, I'm changing my vote to Nay. I wore my skinny jeans again today and realized they are indeed longer than yours. Mine cover my ankles. The only way you're going to make yours work is to tuck them into boots.
