PSA: RM Bryn Crossbody guitar strap bag...

Why is is 4 deg F with a temp that feels like minus 10 makes me long for spring? Anyway, I have been intrigued my the RM bryn guitar strap bag that many of you have. It's the right size, I love RM quality and I thought the guitar strap would make winter less dreary. I found it on sale at nordstrom rack for $120 in the black. The moss is still available at $145 and there is a nice studded version at zappos. But I went with the cheery strap which is on it's way to me now. Thought if anyone else felt they missed out that it would be worth a shout out. Happy new year but dreaming of spring!!

I like these bags a lot and the guitar strap pattern really adds an element of interest. I too love the quality of RM (she's well represented in my handbag collection) -- every bag that I own was either bought on sale or on ebay. If there was a crossbody hole in my collection I would definitely consider one of these.

That looks like a great choice for you! I got the studded one in a light blue suede. I rarely go to TJMaxx but that’s where I found mine. I love the size; it’s comfortable to carry and holds plenty.

I love this for you, gryffin! I would take one too in navy....or grey.....and oh, my favourite bags are RM -- I honestly don't use any others except for specific occasions now that I have hers!

Jill58 - you are obviously an amazing shopper to fine all your bags on discount. I have the RM quilted love bag. It's as close as I'll ever get to the Chanel boy bag..and it's great for evening but a little small for day. I also bought several of the RM guitar straps which I've worn with my coach Annabelle. Agree really nice quality, thoughtful useful construction at a reasonable price point. I'm sure you have a wonderful collection Jill!!

Suz - it's so interesting that we often niche w certain bag designers. I've usually carried coach but it's so rare that I find a design and size that I like. But I'm comfortable with the quality and level of the bag. I have really enjoyed the quality of the RM love bag. I think the whole guitar strap concept is brilliant. Not only are they comfortable but they really swap up the look. Since I don't wear accessories very often it's a nice way to add that little pop. Do you have any of the guitar straps for your bags? Would they work ?

So tempting, so tempting, especially since it appears that the guitar strap is adjustable since I always need to shorten my straps. I'm disappointed that the flap doesn't cover a pocket. . . .

That is a great little purse—the outer slip pocket is what I always want for my phone. Don't you just love the happy little punch of a guitar strap? I had a bag with one last summer, and just replaced the strap on my new medium-sized tote with one—the original strap was too short to wear cross-body.

Fashintern - I'm a huge guitar strap fan. I have 3 RM one w silver studs, one gold and one embroidered. I'm enjoyed them very much since I don't swap out bags but I can swap up the look and comfort factor w the strap. That's why when I decided I needed a new day bag I would see if the bryn was still available. So much fun!! Love your bag and straps. I know you will enjoy them!

I have this bag in the putty color, which is still available at the rack I see! I love this bag and have had so many compliments on it. It's just the right size too.

There IS an outer pocket on these bags, to fit your phone. It's not covered. It's on the other side -- not the side with the flap.

Gryffin, yes to all your plus factors for the straps and one wish: I’ve broken two leather straps in recent years, on a Coach and a Victoria Nash. I hope the guitar straps will be stronger!

gryffin and brooklyn -- I love your black RM 'Love' bags -- particularly the black hardware. I have one with subtle chain detail trim which I like, and a mini size which I use for going out at night or other times when I barely need to carry anything. Shiny mentioned having this bag in putty and although these bags look slightly different from one another colorwise, I think putty is the color.

Another RM fan here too. I have two bags and a tote, and like them all. I bought an RM guitar strap when they first came out 2 years ago (?) but rarely wear it. I am kind of annoyed with myself for jumping on that trend when I did - the strap is too long on the RM bags unless worn cross-body style, and it's also too thick and wide to stay on my shoulder nicely. I clipped it to an inexpensive small (a knock-off of something) cross body I do have, and it's fine for the three times a year I can wear a x-body. Guitar strap was 4x the cost of the little bag - which is fairly stupid in my books (I mean my purchase of it).

Shiny - thank you for the clarification. another outer pocket would have been great but it still seems like a great bag. So glad you are enjoying yours!! With your light hair, I'm sure the putty color looks divine!!
Fashintern - sorry to hear about the straps breaking. Guitar straps do seem much sturdier. Do you still have your coach strap? Coach will absolutely repair it, at a nominal charge if it's more than a year old, but they are very gracious about it. My little annabelle recently returned for a tune up. Totally worth it!!
Jill58 - I think the love bags are super in all the colors!! The tiny size would be a gorgeous clutch but I really like having the option of a strap. The black hardware on the love bags is one of my favorite features as I don't need to worry about mixing metals. But it's such a well designed bag in all it's sizes and all the colors are really lovely!!

Lisa - I'm so sorry the guitar straps have not worked out for you. I'm a total crossbody girl. My shoulder will get sore if I am holding my bag all day (when traveling or site seeing) and I really enjoy the guitar straps for those occasions. They are quite thick, although I can wear them on shoulder bags but I wear my straps really long, obviously!! I think I'm just used to it. Would you consider using them on a tote for travel? They might be just the right length and wow, that could make an awesome statement. Just a thought.

Jill58: love those putty colored ones too! This style is one of my favorites, very much like the "Boy Bag by Chanel." a real classic.
I adore Karl Lagerfeld bags too and have a few of them. I have this one below, in camel color, which is so pretty and goes with my beige, blush, grey, cream, and neutral palette of most of my clothes. They don't really hold all that much however, as the flap which goes over the front takes up so much room.

I probably should have sent it off to Coach for repairs. The woman in the shop confirmed that it is an original Coach, but seemed to think it would be quite expensive to have them fix it, and she was unappealingly snooty anyway. I had the cobbler in my hometown—same guy who’s had the shop since I was growing up there—replace it for me. I think it looks just fine.

One other item for our little list of reasons to love the guitar strap is the ease of adjustment. Leather straps may have a buckle with 4 or 5 holes, giving a total range just under half a foot. The guitar straps I have can both be tightened to half their original length. I like to wear my bag crossbody, so my hands are completely free (I’ve been known to not take a little guy off if I’m just spending an hour somewhere), but if you shortened it all the way, you could practically carry your bag in the crook of your arm (what’s that kind of strap length called?)

Fashintern - your bag is totally adorable!! I would never know the strap was damaged. Your cobbler did a stellar job. I'm so sorry your Coach salesperson was not nice. Our coach store is in a very exclusive expensive mall. The coach store has really been upgraded. I was expecting the same attitude you got, but my experience was the opposite. They were so nice. Complimented my bag. Expressed how happy they were when people had their old bags repaired because they were beautiful and well made. They offered me "refreshments" if you can believe that and didn't try and sell me anything. So I had the royal repair treatment. I'm so sorry you didn't get that. But I'm glad you got the bag repaired and that it looks perfect again!!
