Wow, you both look fantastic! What a fabulous couple!

Omg! Amazing! So fun! So well done!

Fantastic! I hope you had a great time at the party.

(My great-grandfather was a Prohibition-era gangster in Chicago. My grandmother had stories of being driven to school in an armored car!)

Hi all thank you so much. It's the next morning now. There were so many incredibly dressed people. If we go next year we will probably do a more evening 1920s style. There was so much beading. We were really lucky with the weather as NZ has had a lot of late summer rain and storms of late( end of tropical cyclone Gita hit our South Island last week) but it was one of those perfect late summer evenings. I sent Neil up on the best dressed stage ( pic attached) as he did look really good. I couldn't compete with outfits like a perfect vintage 1920s women's skull cap totally covered in pearls! Angie would have been in heaven! A woman dressed as Amelia Earhart won. Great costume but our new visiting Dutch friend ( middle of us 5) said she wasn't glamorous enough!
There were 2 amazing female burlesque performers on stage, plus "Ivan the Red" a sort of strongman and flame eater. Just as well it was R18 as the women ended up with only nipple covers and barely there thong underwear. They were incredible dancers, what flexibility.
We parked in a far away car park and got the free vintage tram there and back about one kilometre.
And the Hendrick's gin, apple and elderflower punch was delicious! I have slept in xx

What a fun night and you looked terrific / both of you! The weekend weather was glorious wasn't it after all the storms.

Wow... Tremendous work, you two !

Late to the party, but fwiw I liked 1 the best! So fun

Absolutely fabulous, both of you! What a fun event!

Such a fun post, you both look incredible. Jenni, I love your outfit as this is something that you could also wear on a night out, you look really pretty in that dress. Neil looks very gangster with his violin case!

Oh you both look AMAZING! How fun!
As soon as I saw the boater hat and the parasol I hoped you would go with those and you did! Ten out of ten!
I love the little violin case too. That must be about a quarter size? Love it! What a fab party.

I'm with Zibbets! #1 for your DH was my favourite, and your parasol is so 'Daisy'. I must say the colour of your dress is lovely on you, but best of all, is your smile.

What fun! You both looked fantastic, and just right for the evening. I enjoyed seeing the party pictures, too. Thanks for sharing, Jenni!

What fun! I stopped by to look for your post about a different 1920s era party a few months ago and found this equally great one.

But....it doesn’t have what I’m looking for. Iirc, you had some great links in your posts about the Art Deco party. I am looking for ideas on how to wear a headband tomorrow, want to go with something from around that era—Art Deco/Jazz age/flappers, etc. Can you point me in the right direction?

Hi FashIntern, missed you and sorry if this is too late. I think the links may have been in a post of Anne's, actually, back around Christmas, as Anne was dressing up 1920s as well. Google pics of the 2 Great Gatsby movies 1974 and 2013 and of 1920s hairstyles. You'd need to put yours up into a faux bob perhaps. Good luck!
