I have some wonderful summer sandals, and I've added 3 pairs this summer alone. Still, I'm always looking for pretty footwear that is indestructible and can handle my penchant for walking miles at a brisk clip. My feet are getting fussier, and I will not be slowing down!

These Leigh wedges by Crocs are phenomenally comfortable. They are, perhaps, even more fun in the bright colors and prints that are available, but I liked the black wedge better than the putty colored rubber on the others. I'm a 9 1/2 usually, but I had to take the 10 for length. The shoe runs a bit short and wide.

I'm undecided about keeping them because:
1. I have sandals that, while flat and more casual, are just as comfy
2. I have some great dressier sandals that are moderately comfy -- I could wear them all day, as long as I wasn't walking miles and miles.
3. Our big Western vacation at the end of the summer is cutting into my budget, and I have a couple of pairs of boots to buy in the fall!

Keep for comfort, or save the money for Vacation and Fall boots?

3: The platforms I wore earlier in the day
4. My silver White Mountain birkie-like sandals -- my toes love these!

5. My leopard crocs -- very cushy, and still available.

Even if I don't keep these, I would recommend these to other fabbers -- particularly those with foot issues and reasonably wide or high volume feet.

They look very similar to 2 to me. If you think you really *need* it, then keep. Comfy sandals are hard to come by! If not, save for the vacation I say

I prefer the solid black heel of the crocs but the current pair are quite serviceable. I'd save the money for boots and vacation. Sounds like your sandal collection is looking pretty good! Love those silver birkie-likes!

Thanks for weighing in on a Saturday night! I must say that I have a soft spot for summer sandals. They're like candy: small, bright and fun --- and less expensive and difficult than, say, boots!

I realize that wedges may not be the hottest silhouette at the moment, but a slight platform makes for an easier time walking and I think my larger leg balances a bigger shoe pretty well.

I think they look great on you! I'd hang on to them for a few days and see how you feel about them then. I'd be inclined to keep, as they are a style that is likely to last several seasons, but the timing might not be right for getting them, if you have other priorities.

I can't really evaluate the budget trade-off so I'll just comment on the shoes. I absolutely love them for you! They look so delicate and modern. It seems like you don't necessarily go for "delicate" but these are amazing! And if they're comfy? Wow!

I don't think I got the memo about wedges because I bought a pair of wedged sandals. For dressy comfort they can't be beat. I'm showing you mine, which are actually a solid pale taupe (no snakeskin). My color doesn't seem to be online. They do exactly what I want them to do.

I agree with Firecracker, keep them for a while. If you truly love them you might want to make room.

I also love all the shoes on you and the fact that they are comfortable makes the decision very tough.
Most of the shoes that I consider rule themselves out because they are not comfortable. Finding pretty shoes that are comfortable puts you in a tough spot as far as deciding on which/ whether to keep.

Thanks, again! I realize that two other elements are showing up in what should be a simple decision:
1. A desire to create a wardrobe that reflects my real lifestyle -- and that includes lots of movement and feet that are getting pickier
2. A desire to change from a "fast fashion" or "cheap and plentiful" mindset, to a "good quality for a good price" view on purchases. This shift is going to require more patience, and a willingness to live with some wardrobe holes.

Joyce: I agree! It's hard to leave any truly comfy shoe on the shelf!

Adelfa: Love your Alfani sandals -- those are a great example of a pretty, but still practical shoe!

I'd save the money. They are lovely, but I know you wanted to save for vacation and your other sandals seem to be serviceable and look great. I know it's difficult to resist if something comes along that fits well and looks good, but do you really need them? More than new boots in fall? Or spending money for vacation? Speaking from the point of view of one who does SYC...

Gosh. I am surprising myself. My practical side was all ready to say, "Oh, those are just too similar to your current ones." But my fashion loving side is jumping up and down and saying "keep"! Those are a wedge, sure, but on you, they look delicate and modern while ALSO being practical. I love them for you, and the price tag is not a large one. I would be tempted to look into consigning or donating the others instead!

Admittedly, I may be influenced by my own current search. I'm looking for something really similar. Not a black sandal, necessarily -- but a really comfortable sandal (which for me will probably mean a small wedge of some kind) that can walk me the distance (and then some) but also looks a bit stylish and even current. And is a good "crossover" type shoe -- works for casual but also can be worn in a pinch in a somewhat dressier situation.

The Crocs work perfectly on you because of proportion, as you say. On you they read as "delicate" and even refined.

This would be hard for me too. When cute comfortable footwear that is your style comes along, shopping resolutions fly out the window. Is keeping them worth giving up fall boots? Do you have enough to get by for the summer?

I think you should keep because a comfortable wedge is not the same as a comfortable flat. If you are a person that likes some heel either for comfort or style (or both), I think a black wedge you can walk in all day is a good investment.

I may be no help- I tend to justify items as being sort- of HEWI's but then am appalled when a year later they seem outdated and the outfit seems to " require" something new. I sometimes have trouble telling whether YLF feedback is, yay, classic! Good for several years ! Or yay, looks great on you NOW but...
But, this is where comfort and what I call " foot look" count. How to tell when something has an intrinsic fit with your style that transcends ( somewhat) the flow of fashion so it becomes something that is a basic or staple and you style other things around IT to keep things fresh. That would be one way to tell whether to snap something up vs. wait another year and see what's" new" then.
These do look good with your own foot- ankle - leg proportions and fit your lifestyle.
From budget standpoint , if your budget has other elastic areas, then perhaps you could tighten up there-in clothing for example I tend to buy too many tops, so could go on a tops moratorium. In other areas there is wiggle room to spend less if I really think about it.

Wow!!!!! The Crocs look amazing on you! I actually never see it on anyone before but that can be styled to be "pretty" or "edgy"! I've owned many crocs wedges before and I can attest to their comfort!

before i get to the sandals issue, can i just say that i really like that bright blue shirt and blazer. fab color on you!
ok, now for the question at hand. are the croc's something you see yourself reaching for more than the current wedges? reaching for next year? if yes to both questions, i think i would keep them, if not, i think i would return.

Astrid: I have so much respect for your style and your budget discipline! I am indeed trying to buy more what it needed than what is wanted this summer. And I'm hoping and praying that gas prices drop before we travel at the end of August. Those "wide open" western spaces will mean lots of driving!

Suz: You understand my thinking perfectly. I seem to do particularly well with cage, gladiator and wedge sandals -- my calves actually look more bulky in more delicate shoes. These would indeed be "crossover" shoes, suitable for wearing to church or the grocery store. Next fall, I'll likely need new black "concert" pumps. Elegant enough for a gown, but comfortable enough for standing and not more than 3 inches. Everything is a very slender heel right now, and I like the stability and look of a little more width in the stem -- even in evening shoes. I'm prepared to go on a HEWI hunt for that one!

Joy: Keeping these might mean penny pinching in a few other areas, but it would likely at most delay, not prevent, purchasing of fall footwear. This could happen anyway, since I'm on an 8 month pay cycle at the university, I often wait to make Fall purchases until September/October. NAS is horrible for me --- an abundance of wonderful options just when my wallet is empty. Maybe that's actually a good thing?

Shevia: I do have more flats than wedges at the moment. And I have loved wedges since the 70's. I also wear sandals as early and late in the season as possible. My toes kind of go straight across, so sandals always fit and feel better than closed toe shoes -- particularly pointy toed ones. And in Chicago, there are many months for boots!

UF: I understand you completely. There is "classic" and "classic for your personal style." These read kind of "40's Andrews Sisters" to me, and that does suit both my legs and my style. I've also loved the current ankle strap with straps across the forefoot look that is back so strong, and many of the heeled versions of these fit my forefoot very poorly, while these work. And too many tops? Oh yes, I'm a sucker for "just another top" thinking!

Kat: Pretty and edgy, casual or a bit dressy, and a Croc footbed. Yep!

KKcards and Susie: Thanks for compliments on the top. It's a new top (see Unfrumped's comment, lol! From Kohl's actually! And I think these are more versatile than the patterned wedges, and I can see myself wearing them easily through 2 summers. If I like them, I might look for a colored version next year!

Angie: Happy feet are a style necessity, aren't they? And I love to be on the go. Sandals are so much easier for me to fit, that I've realized I should take advantage of running warm and wear them as much as possible while I can in my climate!

I love the all-black sandals - different to neutral wedges. They look great on you. I vote keep those if you go for one pair only.

Normally I'd say return so you can save money for your vacation, but you have to take care of your feet. I think you should keep them, but let this be your last sandal purchase for the summer.

Astrid: Never hesitate to suggest purchasing caution! Responsible shopping matters to me. It's good to test my reasoning on these things. Then, if I end up pinching pennies because I kept the shoes, I'll know I thought it through.

Ornella: I plan on black, for sure. The other colors are surely fun, but I have so much color in my clothing that most of my footwear is made of up neutral/metallic and black.

I'm with Suz - I was all ready to say let them go. But......they look great and are comfortable and I do like a wedge. Have your other Crocs held up well enough that you are confident these should too?
