Potential outfit with black/white purse/shoes

I mentioned in another thread that I was making up my mind about this black/white purse. I tried to put together an outfit with it (obviously heavily Angie-inspired), but haven't worn it out of the house.

Yellow Nexx blouse
Gap straight legs
Black/white oxfords
Black/white purse that can go crossbody or shoulder

Does this work? Thanks in advance!

It works as far as color (with the yellow) and proportions. What is it that is holding you back from liking the bag? Is it very different in shape than other bags you may have had? This one is pretty structured and the silver bit makes it seem a bit preppy too me but that isn't a bad thing - only may not meet your style goals. Does that make sense?

Bags are so personal - maybe that's just me though

I love this look and I would totally wear it. In fact, can I ask you what brand the bag and shoes are?!?! Cream with black accents looks so sharp! The coordination of the shoes and bag really dresses up the ensemble, and the yellow top brightens the whole thing. The only thing I'm wondering about is the white thing hanging off of the purse.

@Christieanne, I like everything about the bag except the price. The bag is the right size/functionality for me. I have some concerns about keeping it clean, but I'm willing to try (and to dye it in a few years once it gets grungy). My style goals really boil down to being put together, comfortable and practical, while still wearing things that feel like me. I'm glad you think the color/proportions work as that's exactly the type of feedback I needed.

@Heather, the shoes are John Fluevog and the bag is Rebecca Minkoff. She puts tassels on a lot of her bags - I'll cut them off if I end up keeping it. Thank you for not thinking the white/black shoes/bag were too matchy-matchy, as it was a concern of mine.

@Kirti, why am I not surprised you like it as a crossbody?

Sometimes you have to pay a bit more for a bag you really love. Spray the bag with leather protector and that will make it easier to keep clean. Also, some white cream shoe polish will come in handy. Enjoy because your outfit looks great - I forgot to say I love the shoes.

I can make the price work by declaring it my birthday present to myself but I had to be sure it was really worth forgoing alternative things I could have bought.

The purse is unique enough that it could be "trying too hard/a flop" if worn with the wrong outfit. I don't want to be the person wearing poor clothing choices with a designer bag. So, I really appreciate your feedback and encouragement to go out and wear the bag already. I wore the yellow blouse last Thursday so maybe I'll pair it with a red blouse this week.

It's a great looking bag! I love light colored bags but I'm kind of a slob about polishing and keeping them clean. The shoes are super cute also and the Nexx blouse is the same one that Rae has only in a different color?

I like the bag! If the price is holding you back maybe you could use ShopStyle and search for something similar at a lower price point or wait til it goes on sale? Or maybe you need it now?
