A WIW and Potential Benetton

Dear Fabbers,

A WIW, Monday am, earlier today. and then, I have some potential purchases to show you and see what you think.

1 / 2. WIW today. Tube MamaB skirt, in a fab brown / conker / burgundy colour / Jigsaw blouse and Hobbs jacket, with wide belt.

Then the potential Benetton purchases -

3 / 4. Black jumper, bat wing, so toppers will be a problem. Reason for trying - thumb holes in the arms. Just like the ones I wore through in my school jumpers :). Lovely quality and doesn't cling to my neck. Thin wool.

5 / 6 / 7 Black leather skirt. Bit too much for me I think and it is slightly too big maybe.

8 / 9. Same skirt, smaller size, tan colour - it says orange on the web site. I like this, I think. Would need shortening.

10 / 11 / 12 / 13. Black wide leg trousers - how apt following todays blog. Definitely drapey. Would need shortening. They feel elegant, and are super quality - lined, and generous pockets and super waist band with belt loops. BUT they are tight. So I should size up. Not really styled.

LOVE the trousers! KILLER potential. Get the right size and you are in business.....

Loving the leather skirts! I like both the black and tan, actually. Make sure you like the way they feel when you sit down. And you can't easily press them, so you have to be okay with a few wrinkles at the back. Hustle and bustle of public transport etc.....

Very fun '80s jumper! (I did the same thing with my school jumpers btw......made thumb holes so the jumper sleeves peeked out from under my blazer ..... and Mama NOT impressed ).

Your WIW today is typical KILLER Jane style!

Hello Angie, I have just changed the title and updated the text, Thank you for letting me know. Yes, all the new stuff is Benetton.

Thank you on the trousers, (ah - killer potential - good to know! - thank you) and on the skirts. Thank you ever so much for the tip about the wrinkles. I don't think the skirts are real leather, so I do need to have a look at this quite carefully. I am picky about wrinkles!

It is such a good look, though, the jumper sleeves peeking out below. Or at least you and I thought so! My father was very unimpressed too!

Your first outfit looks great! The sweater, wide pants and leather skirt all look good. If it is not real leather it will not stretch so make sure you choose the comfortable size - both look great.

Well you have taken me down memory lane, I always wanted a sweater with thumb holes and my Mum would not let me have one, saying I would look like a lost child. It was sad she could even have thought such a thing because my parents looked after me very well and I am sure a cute sweater would not have changed that impression at all. I really love the cut of your Benneton sweater.

I love the tan leather skirt and prefer it to the black, those trousers are beautiful and elegant, size up and maybe get them altered for the perfect fit. Like Cardiff Girl, I love the pants in #10, with your wide belt and striped top, tres chic!

Angie, thank you so much, such a lovely selection of finds. Thank you fir thinking of me! The horse sweater is lovely - it is a great graphic. I like the grey longer a line skirt too. I will go and take a look at the pleated skirt in a B&M store. The jacket will look super on you - fab colour, and the longer coat looks great.

Thank you CardiffGirl, I think the trousers have potential. I’m concerned about about the hem length though and how to get the right length for office heels which somehow works with the flats walking to and from the office.

Aw, thumb holes are so great. What a pity it has batwings. Doesn’t sound to me like you’d wear it. I think you answered your own question about the black skirt too, though maybe you could try it in a smaller size. On the “optical illusion” of a tiny waist + curves—that’s what makes the curves. All the “out” in the world isn’t curvy without some “in”. Ootd is nicely harmonious.

Jane, your outfits always look so elegant and put together, and these are no exceptions.
but i must say that i think the striped shirt with the snake skin belt, is one of my favorites. I know that you say not really styled, i beg to disagree. There is a sort of 40s Katherine Hepburn feel, but mixed with a totally relaxed 2020s vibe. I hope that you keep the pants.

I really like Hobbs suiting, blouses and t-shirts but just ordered a box of Hobbs sweaters and only ended up keeping one, the rest were of abysmal quality. It is so disappointing that so many retailers cut too many corners on knits.

Great items, I especially love the pants with the wider belt - very chic. The leather skirt is fun and I think looks really nice. I slightly prefer the lighter of the two. I quite like a batwing sweater but it has to be comfortable for you.

Nr 1 looks gorgeous and is a true Jane look! Like the batwing sweater and the right size of those pants sounds also great! Then, I love the cognac leather skirt with the stripe top. The black is a bit overwhelming on you- but who knows it also can work carefully styled. Just be sure the skirt will not change it's fluid flow to some crisp bell shape when shorted-or be sure you'll like it as well. I would wear it once at this length first see if you like.
What kind of shoes are you planning wear with? I have hard time matching leather items (or items of the exact same fabrics) so close together like skirts/pants and shoes. But you can always wear suede and/or sneakers if you have the same fears-am I the only one making a point of that?
